There are hundreds of charities out there which are unaffiliated with any religious group. Most of these are run by good, honest folk who would appreciate your contribution and send it where it is most needed. However, there are a few really bad eggs out there too. I would first decide what sort of needy cause I would like to contribute to, i.e., refugees, AIDS relief, orhpans, child support, etc., and search for charities which are involved in that kind of work (the internet is great for generating candidates here). Then, select a couple of likely candidates, and do some research into them. You ought to be able to find at least one well run charity this way. Also, once you have an idea what type of cause you wish to support, post here, and I am sure the people on this forum would be happy to give you recommendations for charities with which they or their friends have had good personal experiences. assalamu alaikum i think perhaps looking into small local charities is a good start. perhaps go into your local charity shops and ask about where the money is going. or look in local newspapers for charities needing time and money. i say look small because alot of the bigger charities giving alot of the money you donate to advertising and other such nonsense. but whatever charity you support you can find this info. wa alaikum assaalam |
