Assalaamu alaikum,

Inshallah I will be interviewing at Siena College on April 5. Does this name even register in the minds of Albanyians? I have learned a bit about them from their website. But, what is the local scoop/reputation on the college? Anything else that I should know? Any graduates of Siena College?

Wasalaam.

noura used to go to siena... my dad used to teach there.. and i went there for a year.. it's a local private 4 year christian college in the "franciscan tradition" it 's nice and quiet.. most of the ppl there are from wealtheir families in the upstate area.  students mostly go out to drink and party...hmm they have crosses in every classroom. they are NOT diverse, but i have heard they are trying to diversify.
when i went there i hated it... i came from a really diverse hs and i was getting into islam more...i just couldn't relate to anyone.. so i left and went to suny which has a huge population and is extremely diverse with tons of muslims...

april 5... looks like a friday.. maybe you could go to jumah prayers or something...

wa alaikum us-salaam wa rahmatullah,

Thanks for the feedback. Alhamdulillah, the college has some Muslim tradition. I was worried about their christian focus and how it might be like working there. Their website does indicate that an MSA exists, although it is not clear whether it is active or not. Also, there are some Muslim-named professors on there faculty list (like the head of the religious department). I like there mission on service to needy and poor, etc. However, I am not sure how it works in practice.

I got this interview after a long break and am just anxious that something good comes out of it inshallah. I hope I don't fall flat (sometimes literally !) in the interview.

Inshallah I will be there for two nights. I don't have the schedule yet for Friday but most probably I would be on campus the whole day. Inshallah I will try to hook up with some albanyians brothers.

Further comments are welcome. And please pray it works out for the best.

Wasalaam.
