Bismillahirahmanirrahiem

[slm]  :-)s an  ;-)s,

Yesterday my teacher was talking about his experiences on Hadji, about  what a strong man Mohammed  [saw] must' ve been  :o after climbing mount Arafat and how when you're doin the ta'waaf you don't even notice  8) the people around you so if somebody falls you just grap something of him (limbs/clothes) and pull that person up, man or woman  :D.

So I'm wondering how many of the residents in Madina ever went to Umrah or Hadji. How old were you? How was it like? Etc., etc....

For those who didn'y went yet, when would you like to go? With whom? Etc., etc...

I hope to go at an early age, In Shaa'Allah.

Salaam,  :-*.

I have never been to Hajj but long to do it(May Allah swt accpet me and make it easy on me Ameen).
The first time I went for ummrah I was about 12-14 years old and the first time I saw kaba I was mesemerised I couldnt belive I was in the place I had heard stories about growing up and I was actually in the place were prophet mohammed  [saw]
prophet Ibrahim alai  hi wa salaam and Prophet Ismail alai  hi wa salaam were there before me.

We did tawwaf ,I got to kiss hajre aswad it was kind of akward for i was short and had to put my face deep into the metal enclosing,my father tried hoisting me up so that i could touch the the frame of the kabah door but i was too short and my fingers could barely touch the ledge.
we next prayed behind the maqaam e Ibrahim was suprised to see how big the prints were guess size 16 or so.Next we dark some zam  zam it was real chilled and had a diffrent taste my father urged us to have more while we were kind of full guzzzling on  [] just before we had come.

The plain ride and the exhaustions had got to us by  the time we reached saaffa and marwa  and what  suprised me  was that they werent too big  we could actually kind of climb on them and the rest is kind of a blur  till i had my head shaved ( the first of many to follow) I still remebr the cool breeze of makkah against  my  shaved head.

There were many days and  nights spent in the Haram sharif.
There were times when this teenager was more intrested in the markets out side the haram shariff(Gazza if any one remebres the mid eighties- I guess its no more there) than the haram sharif  it self (maybe it was the young and impressionable me and may be we were visitng makkah so often almost twice a year for a month and a half each)

There were other memorable nights spent in taravih prayers esp behind
sheik ali jabir(you can hear him on www.islamway.com) that would transport you to another world.
Another favourite thing of mine which my father really frowned on was standing in line for food outside the haram usually meant for the poor and the wayfarers  ;D
and who could forget the lovely icecream we had after the jummah prayers

The last time was in '88 and it was really heart wrenching to know that you
wont be coming back for a long time, the last umrah was really a very  Poignant moment
Well hope this reflection of a teenager didnt bore you to death but once I started i just had to write  :D
Madinah is for another time
Please pray that I and all the ummah get a chance to do umrah and haj

I've performed 'umrah with my family. Twaz the best experience ever! alhamdulillah.
I went when i was around 13..hang on..thats 2 years ago.. but i still remember it as if it was yesterday..
we went with a group, my dad being the leader. when we reached makkah, we went into the hotel, dropped our things off, then we all walked it to the Haram. I remember holding this sister's hand and walking up towards the mosque. we were all saying the talbiyah..my head was down, concentrating on the talbiyyah. then suddenly i realised our pace had slowed down, i looked up and there i saw this *beautiful* mosque, standing way above. I just stood there amazed, i was lost in thoughts, can't remember what i was thinkin just then, but i remember shaking my head thinkin "this ain't no pop-up picture..its reality!".. subhanallah. I can't describe it.
we prayed our 'isha salah on the warm white marble just outside the masjid. we then went inside and performed the 'umrah - did tawaf, went up and down the 2 low hills, safa and marwa. I loved every single part of it...naturally  :)

Man, i miss that place...but for some reason, i miss Madinah more. I dunno, maybe cuz it was quiet and peaceful..we could go outta the hotel at any time of the day or night, without our parents worrying. The Prophet's (saw) mosque was *awesome*..mashaAllah.  I remember it was Eid day, I went into the mosque alone, prayed the Eid prayer, then sat next to a zam zam water cooler thing. I poured myself a glass of zam zam water and just sat there sipping and just taking in the sorroundings.
When we were leaving Madinah, i remember seeing tears in nearly everyones' eyes...subhanallah.

Alright, i'm in a trance-like state now, i ain't gonna make sense soon.  ;)
Wouldn't it be wicked if we could all meet up in the *real* Madinah..?  :)

Ma'assalaam

Masha'Allah it was just..just...simply beautiful. i have no words to describe what i felt and saw over there. May Allah bless everyone with the chance to go to His house for Hajj and Umrah! It was a trip never to be forgotten.
