Red Lobster any one?

I had been to the red  lobster tonight with a cousin and  his family
the food though expensive ( no kind of expensive on this count) was great.
Though me being the typical desi wished it were more spicier. It was a enjoyable and hearty dinner and supposed to be healthy with fish having all these protective oils
I wonder if any body else has been there and whats their reaction

ive been there plenty of times, i dont even like sea fod so when i go there i get the pasta and thats it, yes its expensive,

somewhere u DONT want to go is macaroni grill on wolf raod, allready two muslims that i know went there (seperate times) and they served them chopped up ham in their pasta and it was very well hidden,

allahu alim to whether they do it purposely but dont go there
you should try olive garden for dinner, IHOPS for breakfast (both on wolf road).

The thing with Italian restaurants is that they put pork in everything... We didn't even realize it until recently. They'll do it as a flavoring type thing or even part of the meal.. I forget what it's called: porschu something or other.. Just make sure you tell them clearly NO PORK, NO ALCOHOL cause they cook stuff with alcohol as well :(

I think you can find some lesser expensive things at red lobster.... or better yet go down to two cousins and get some real fresh seafood ..mmmmmmm

Red Lobster is one of my favorite places to eat. :)  The prices are very reasonable during lunch, there are lunch specials.  Unfortunately a bunch of them have closed out here in southern california.

That's pretty cool how Albany is entering the modern age, first Circuit City now Macaroni grill.  :)  As Jannah said don't ever order anything with proschuette in it, because thats another word for ham.  There are some good things at the macaroni grill you just have to becarefull.  I liked the food there as well.

some of these rests that you go to serve pork?

just a word of caution in case some dont know

good ol' fish and chips - the batter has lager and in the original british recipe - its fried in beef drippings.

but not all rests do that, so u gotta check.

Assalamu alaikum

I think it's beer.  I know that there's a lot of recipes for beer batter for frying stuff in.  It makes it puffy or something.
Also, a word about pork: even a seemingly innocent dish like soup or clam chowder could have pork in it because: they fry up bacon at first and then take it out and just leave the fat for flavoring... yuck  :P
Seafood is often cooked with alcohol so make sure you ask.

yep.. I can confirm it.. very very often they use beer in the batter. It's true BroHanif.. you'd better ask your local chippy what they use.

And soups are often based on a stock made from boiling bones (beef or pork) so be careful...

Question: what do you do if after eating half your pasta you discover ham in it? Do you have to throw up?

Ok I take it back Bro Uthman and Sis Ellie but I've never felt dizzy after eating fish and chips nor have I staggered home.

The Irish love Guiness in eveything I think theres even a cake and ice cream flavoured Guiness or is that Baileys. As for the Aussies well its Mick Dundee and his Castle Main 4 X followed by Fosters.

And lastly just a question to everyone.. how is a lobster killed so its toxins are removed ???

My sis tells me that there are two ways:

The elegant way is to insert a needle into its brain and knock it out some how or
the gruesome way...
throw the lobster into boiling water while its alive. and that will kill it after a while...

I find both ways a bit stomach churning don't others ????

Anyway better check me local chippy if his got a can of Special Brew...

yeah i wanna know whats the best way to kill a lobster too. just after eid, went to a rest. with family and here, in the middle of the rest. there was a cook doin BBQ, all u had to do was just take ur meat and give it to him. and there was a pan too where he was doin lobsters. so after having two lobsters that he had already done i queued up for more and i didnt not like what i saw, the lobsters were ALIVE and he put em on the hot sizzling pan and they died a slow death. it didnt feel right and i stopped. i thot it was unIslaamic to kill/cook in such away. and im sure there is a better way. my broninlaw says the only other way is to put em in boiling water . . . (dont wanna do that either)

Deep pot, water at a rolling boil. Head first- kills them instantly...
... at least that is what I have read.

I was reading about how to kill live lobster in another article.  They described 2 ways of doing it.  One way is to just drop the lobster into a pot of boiling water and eventually it dies.  In order to spare the lobster a few seconds of pain, its recommended to add salt to the water, so that the water can reach a level beyond the boiling point of water.  The other method I read about was taking a sharp pointed object and killing the lobster's brain inbetween the eyes.  I read about how one guy did this and failed and brain guts were all over the place and the lobster was going crazy, thrashing around.

If things aren't done right, the lobster will intoxicate itself with poisons, and you'll get sick if you try and eat it.  If it smells like amonia, you know you got a poisoned lobster.
