| Just an FYI for all the stateside mamas and papas out there: FOX news is running a program tonight called "The Corruption of the American Child." It's not an Islamic prespective or anything, but could be of interest. 9pm Thursday, FOX news. |

| [slm] Didnt see the main program for it was on the otther fox channel i just get the fox news but I managed to keep awake for its critique on the notorious O' riley factor and from that he appears to have crticised the black rappers n musicians but fails to acknolwedge the many white muscians who have spread the message of voilence n hate guess he forgot about the hippe culture the rock n roll contribution and the wood stocks The most important thing was just the previous night he was against banning of the restaurant Hooters(with its inappropriately clad waitress and beer guzzling men) when some community memebers of S florida wanted to ban it from a family loacality for it was corrupting their children Si guess fox and Mr Reily just want to do some black and Muslim bashing and look the other way on things white folks(str8 and non democratic ;)) do to corrupt the society |

| Hi Siddiqui, Actually, that was addressed by one of the founders of one of the big name rap record agencies, when OR was interviewing him, and OR *did* say that the people "in charge" of this music were ultimately old white guys who own the major labels. Also, in the program he talked about the internet, video games, movies, wrestling, everyday kids' sporting events with violence, etc. and I would venture to say that 90 percent of the people/entertainment images in those segments were white. Rap music was just one of several segments. That said, I can't say I was crazy about the program. It was pretty much the usual stuff, the entrtainment industry putting the blame on inattentive parents and parents blaming the entertianment indutrsy. Peace, Sparrow |

| [color=Purple]I only saw the first 20 minutes or so because I was pretty busy with other stuff last night. I wasn't too surprised at anything that was said. We've all seen Marilyn Manson before, although I still thought the music videos they showed of him were totally gross. I don't know if FOX was helping or hurting its cause by giving those people more publicity than they already have. The thing that I didn't like was that the guy who was doing the interviews pointed out all kinds of problems, but didn't offer any solutions. I don't know if he proposed anything later on. Overall, it was a fairly typical, yet graphic program. Julie :)[/color] |
