what's your intention?

One of things I learned from childhood was when one help someone, do it sincerely which mean do not expect any return from them. For eg. when one offer any kind of helps (good ones) to others do it for the sake of Allah and not because you expect something else in return.

Normally when we do something, there surely be an/some intention/s behind it. Only Allah swt knows whether its good or bad intention.

What happen when we do something good, we hope (intention) that Allah swt will reward us for that. Is such intention permissible? For eg. when we  donate money to the needy at the same time we said to ourself, May Allah swt reward me for this. Does that make our charity not sincere since we hope for reward from Allah swt in return. What should be the best intention one should have when they help others, give charity etc?

I think intentions of rewards, praise and fecilitations OTHER than the expectation of rewards from Allah swt is bad

But doing for the sake of Allah swt with the notion of pleasing him and expecting a reward from him or staying away from evil because one hates to displease Allah swt and is frightend of the Hell fire is a good thing'

Why do we give charity? because he has ordained upon us to do so and he
has put a special empathy in our hearts (in varying degrees) to reach out to the poor and needy

The ultimate aim/goal/duty of all human beings is to obey him praise him and look upto him and only him for approval and rewards for he is the

ultimate giver and most bountiful

Hope this helps
