Interview for Paper-Very Important

[slm] :-)

I am writing a paper for my Middle East class, and it is about Women in Islam.  For my opening, I am trying to gather answers to a few questions from 3 categories of people (non-Muslims, converts, and born-muslims).  I was hoping that, inshallah, you guys could help me out.  (I have to write the paper soon-its due Wednesday :o)

Here are the questions for all Muslims:
1) Do you think that a Muslim  woman is better or worse off than a non-Muslim woman (in terms of social position/rights)?  Why?

2) What is one word you would use to describe Muslim women?

3) Do you think that a Muslim woman has any rights or advantages over non-Muslim women?

4) Does a Muslim woman have the right to:
a-choose her own husband
b-own her own property
c-keep any money she earns for herself
d-express her own opinion
e-divorce her husband/contest divorce
f-work outside the home
g-drive a car
h-vote
i-get the highest education she desires

Now, specifically for Born-Muslims (of foreign descent please)
5) Do you think that the country you came from treats women in a truly Islamic manner?  (Please name countrty)

For converted/reverted Muslims:
5) What are three things that changed in your life since you became a Muslim?

6) Did you lose any rights/privileges by becoming a Muslim?

FINALLY:
Statistical Data (for everyone)

Age:
Job:
M/F:
Highest education completed:
Marital Status:
How long you have been Muslim (if you converted):

I really appreciate your help.  Inshallah you will be rewarded for it.  If you want to post or email me the response, either will work.  Also, if you want to add anything that I may have left out, please do.

Jazak Allah Khair,

Sis Malak   :-)

Thank you very much for your help-your word "empowered" is great-I hadn't thought of that one.

Good luck in the pursuit of your masters as well.
