Oreo and Chips Ahoy Halal?

Assalam u ALikum,
 I was just wondering if Oreo cookies and Chips Ahoy are halal or
not??I read in this "handbook of halal and haram products" that we cant eat
them. ANyone else heard or read that???

k...I'm not too sure about Oreos, but I do know that Chips Ahoy's chocolate chip cookies have lard in them....maybe I shouldn't be saying they for sure have lard in them but the ingredients read: "vegetable oil and/or lard". So...better safe than sorry is what I follow.

Wa'alaikum Assalaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

*bag of mini chip ahoys in hand* Partially Hydrogentated Soybean and cottonseed oi... no mention of lard. InshaAllah what I will do tommorow morning is call the oreo & chip ahoy companies and ask them if their products have lard and to send it to me in writing... I will tell you guys what they say InshaAllah! :)

I think it depends on the country as well.  As far as I know the Chips Ahoy in the US are lard free, although this might not be the case in some other country like Canada.

How recent was that book that said Oreos had pork in 'em.  Last I heard they were O'TAY.  On the real I knew a Muslim sister who said that was almost a show stopper for her when she was taking shahadah.  Later on in life when she heard the were cool to eat, she made up for lost time  :-/
