| [slm] What is mobile, alabama like? I just spent 25 minutes on the phone with this recruiter regarding a position in mobile, alabama. How's the weather? Is it humid? Does it get cold? Do they have bugs there? |

| slm, mobile is a bay city... so yeah it gets humid there... and it rains a lot too. and yeah jus likek any other place in the south, the weather can change from hot to cold seemingly at random.. but the good thing about alabama is that the winters are very mild. |

| slm, I've never been to mobile...but its Alabama's "beach city"....but its no LA, sorry :( There's a university down there---University of South Alabama, and there's a huge desi/indo/pak community--foreigners mainly...don't know if thats a selling point or not, its just what I've heard. Bhaloo if you don't mind me asking, what's your particular field in CS? You mentioned something about embedded s/w...is that your specialty? Good luck, wassalam, Nazia |

[/quote] I have a degree in electrical engineering, and I specialize in embedded software development, most recently printer development and then a video server. Thanks for the tip about there being desis there, at least I'll be able to easily get some mithai. :D I am sort of worried about the weather, having never really experienced any extreme weather, especially snow or humid weather. Kathy, I was curious about the bugs, as I heard from a friend that there are bugs in different states, but my friend was surprised to see no bugs out in California. |
