| [slm] I think we should vote of the J from Cara's name, its wasting too much space, and its pointless, Cara is good enough for us without the need to the J!! The jay always seems to me make me think of the word Gay, as in Cara-Gay!! :-X So Cara, what do you reckon :D |

J is actually my last name initial. I thought of using an arabic name, but I have been given two, one from a Saudi brother and one from a Pakistani brother and I didn't want to offend one by using the other.   :) Ok folks  :D I will go with the boards majority vote, Cara with the "J" or just Cara  ???? I am happy with either cause either way I still am part of the Medina Message board family.  ;) |

| [slm] :D I always think of Cara as "Cara Ji" ... like the desi thingy... even though it's really "Cara Jay" But I always think "oh there's Cara Ji" wasalaam eleanor :-* ps : can some desi please explain what I'm going on about.. I don't really know how to explain what "Ji" means... :P |

| [slm] I find it *very* interesting that eleanor, a non-desi, understands what a desi word means ("ji"), but cannot explain what it means to non-desis like herself! :D "Ji" (pronounced "Jee") is kinda like "mister" or "miss." So in Cara's case, it'd be "miss" of course :) Therefore ... Cara Ji = Miss Cara :) Oh and yes, I'd say keep the "J" :) Wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah |

| [slm] Well it can be used with different people and have different meanings but I was more along the "auntie" line.. like "Auntie Ji". In this case I would describe it as being loving and affectionate, but with respect. And that's fairly normal for me.. I often cannot translate from German into English and vice versa, although I can understand perfectly.. weird ::) I could never get a job as an interpreter or translator.. wasalaam eleanor :-* |

| Vote off people's initials ? Okaaayyy exactly how long was I away from Madinat ? Keep the J Cara cos it sounds waayyyy funky. PS If u want an arabic name try sakinah. It means peace and tranquility (somewhat I think...uhh..) and to me u have that kind of inner calmness abt u so the name fits. Whatever it is...my du'a that u will always find peace. Wassalam. |
