Buying online?

I just wanted to ask, from those who have bought online, is it really safe?  Has anyone experienced difficulties, problems when trying to do this?  I have been thinking about buying stuff from the net but most of the stuff is in dollars and i live in the UK, so whats the £ equivalent to a $, and am still unsure whether or not i should take the risk.

Another question is where would i be able to buy this book everyone is talking about - The Idiots guide to Islam - I have been to my local bookstores and have not seen it - so if ne1 in the UK is reading this and has seen it let me know, inshallah, or if someone could recommend a website.

Jazak Allah Khairan

I've bought quite a bit of stuff online. I've bought books, DVDs and plane tickets mainly. I never had any problems whatsoever. Just make sure that you read the details when filling out your billing information. And also make sure when you are brought to the page where you fill out personal details that the little padlock is in the bottom left of your browser.

The only other thing I would advise is caution buying from the US because you will have to pay customs charges depending on how much stuff you order.

To change currency I'd recommend http://www.xe.com/ucc/.

Happy Shopping! :)

slm,

If you use credit cards, like VISA or MC they will automatically convert your money for you using their rates (usually a little higher than the going rates or maybe they use bank rates??) so like when we were in London or Ireland we could use Visa to buy anything and then when we got back home our bill reflected how much we bought in pounds and then what it was in dollars.+

assalaamu alaikum

I buy regularly from Amazon.co.uk. They sell the book for £13.99 (this doesn't include p&p):

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0028642333/202-1613233-6653427

For a comparison of cost from other online book stores click here:

But i don't know about ordering from other places like Barnes & Noble, etc.

Mind you, if you don't feel like ordering online, then you may be able to find a phone number and order via telephone, insha'Allah.
