I am asking for your help. I have a Humanities instructor who states that Mushammad (saw) pick up stories from the Hebrews and the Christians on his travels with the caravans. She has given me the opportunity to prove from the Tora and the Bible that Muhammad (saw) is mention in both text. Please if you know anyone who can help me find this infomation my before next Jumuah I will be most grateful. I had a Bible at one time that called him the Ahmed, but unfortunately I can not find it. | assalamu alaikum, I suspect that the sister who is asking won't be able to see these responses since she might not be aware of the exixtence of this message board. I hope br. Abu-Atheek is able to forward the various responses to her query. Basically, I doubt that she'll be able to use a modern bible to prove beyond doubt biblical testimony of the prophecy of Muhammad [saw]. The original text of the bible has been changed many times. We know that, don't we? There are still some obscure references that have been studied by others, but then, if they point to anything, they point to the inconsistecies within the current bible. I would approach it entirely differently by centring on the scientific content of the Qura'an. These were not mentioned in the bible, nor were understood until very recently. How could an illiterate 7th century Arab just make up with something like that? Refer to works of Maurice Baucaille and Kenneth Moore (2 non-muslim scientists who attest to the accuracy of qura'anic text) Another thing, where would the prophet [saw] have come up with idea that Jesus [alaihi assalam] was not crucified if indeed biblical evidence at his time states that he was? I hope that the challenge that was put forward by the Humanities prof, was a friendly one, and not done in an antagonistic manner. If the latter is the case, I'd say save your breath from the outset, because this would indicate that the prof is less interested in understanding the origin of Qura'an than discrediting its message and its followers, which could stem from a variety of factors, one of which is racism. Religious debates are not the best nor easiest methods of convincing someone. I honestly think that they have the potential of doimg more harm than good. Take care Wassalam |
