| as salam o alaikum, the message below is a project that is going on for U.S. univ students..this is excellent oppurtunity for dawah as one sister who has done this has informed me..they will choose 2 students from each univ in the U.S. and they have asked for muslims to apply for this. my name is Najat Elsayed, and i got your information from zeyn in Houston. Actually the reason that i am contacting you is because i was contaced by OXFAM America's Change Initiative, of which i am a part of with a request. The oxfam change initative wants to open its arms out to the muslim student population here in america and they asked me to share the oppurtunties that they have available to all collage students to the muslim student population. But first let me tell you a little about the CHANGE inative, it basically is an expirement that is funded by the Bill Gates foundation, the goal is to traing students in several areas, leadership skills, organizational skills, activism skills, among other things and to create a national network for a large national student movement for long lasting solutions for social jutice, as well as bring the global to the local, basically meanig bring global issues into the local specturm and showing others how they are linked. working togther across the nation these students have the power needed, the power of dedicated collage students and in great number alhamudiallah. Oxfams change inative works in several areas, dealing with hungar, homelssness and many social justice issues. Only two CHANGE Leaders will be selected from a wide variety of universities across the nation, and those that are choosen will get an all expenses paid trip to boston for a one week intensive training program that i am sure our muslim students will benefit from. going back to the reason that i contacted you is that i was wondering if the shura could vote if this email of the flyer or information could be sent across the board to, the reason is becasue the application deadline is april 15 which is monday and i was thinking if we got it out to the msa's by friday at the latest then if you want more information feel free to emal me, or check out the oxfam website at www.oxfamamerica.org and click on the change initative for more information about CHANGE. jazkallah kharin for your help time and cooperation, take care of yorself here is the flyer : Oxfam America is calling on all students across America to be the change and make a difference in the World, bringing the global to the local and taking part in creating long-lasting solutions for social justice. | deadline extended asalamu alikum, i just wanted to let you know that i talked to the oxfam people and they extended the deadline for the muslim student associations, if you could just note that on the email or present that fact to the shura... the new deadline for the MSA's is may 1st they just have to note on their application that they found out about this via MSA. jazkallah kharin for all your help, i just have to say that this oppurtunity that i personally took part in was very valuable knowledge, even in fundraising, leadership skills, organizational skills, activism skills, i learned a lot alhamudiallah and i just wanted to try to make his oppurtunity available to other muslim students, as well as all the resources that the CHANGE inative supplies is also very helpful for local campus things as well as national ones. if you need any other information feel free to contact me or oxfam |
