An Officer Pulled a Gun At Me!!!!

Assalaamu'Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh!

 Day fore'Yesterday @ 7:30 my friend and I were driving to an Islaamic Clothing Store when we were pulled over by a female police officer.

 It all started when we were making a left turn on a busy street, I made up a diagram to show you when I first saw the officer:

 Anyway, when I saw her as we were turning, she saw me, and I felt at that moment she was going to try and pull us over. Anyways, as we were driving for about 10 minutes, she flashed her lights and we pulled over. So we waited siting there in the car for a bit; and I then look to the right of me (I was the passenger) and I see her near my window with her GUN DRAWN pointed AT ME!!!!!  :o  :o

 She stayed like that for a bit and then told me to put my hands up, I did so, and she then came closer and put her gun back into her holster, as she was doing so, I heard her say to me:

 "I am sorry but I never know what to expect from a person who wears a ski mask"

 She then came and "apologized to me." She gave no reason for stopping us!!! She never asked for my friends license or registration. Me and her were both covered; me in Niqaab, my son in his car seat in the back!!

 As she was leaving, we took her car information etc... and then went on down to the Islaamic Store, afterwards we went down to the police station, and filed a police report against her!

 While at the police station the police man that came out asking what happened, we told him; he then tried talking us out of making that report by telling us, how the lady who pulled us over (officer turnley) had called HIM and told him how embarrassed SHE was (Like that matters!!) also he tried joking with us! please!!
~~~
 Later~My husband got my message about us being at the police station and raced down there (after we had left) the same police man told my husband that the it was a male police man that stopped us because he said: the officer that pulled your wife and her friend over called the CAPTAIN to claim how embarrassed HE for doing what he did to us.
 Now, either he forgot his lie to me, or he was just happily making these discrepancies in his story.... Allah'Alim
~~~~~~~~~
 Anyway, back to the story~Get this, I am wearing Niqaab, my husband used to work at the Islaamic Society (a neighbor hood Masjid).

 While I fill out the police report the officer turned to me and asked me "if he knew me" I said "no" and then he said "yes I do, your husband used to work at the Masjid, as head of security" I WAS SHOCKED!!, because I didn't start wearing the Niqaab until after we left the Islamic Society, and its not like he could recognize me by my son, because I didn't have him until after we left the Islaamic Society. We don't even attend that Masjid anymore!!! How did he recognize me??? Allahu'Alim. He even knew where we used lived! He started naming the streets , "Lincoln Ave," "Ball Rd" oh yeah! Ball Rd!! He was trying to scare me out of writing the report!! SubhanAllah!!! He also brought out another officer... It didn't matter! I just said "bismillah" and continued writing it... ...

 I told him it didn't matter how "embarrassed" she was; she almost blew my brains out!! Alhumdulilah Allah's protection was on us!!!!!!!

 The only reason why that officer (that pulled us over) called the station is because she knew we might come and make a report and she wanted to protect her butt

 We finished up the report and went home, Alhumdulilah everything is okay!!!

I am thinking of contacting CAIR (i don't like them normally, too americanized; my personal opinion, yet Alhumdulilah in this type of area, they are good)

Allahu'Alim
Thought I would share my experience

Al hamdu lillah nothing happened to anyone in the car.  Despite your feelings for CAIR you really need to report this one!!!  Police are there to uphold the law and not create their own laws!!!  >:(

as salaamu alaykum,

You rock for writing up that report Jenna.. authorities get away with this sort of thing way too often because Muslims are too scared or intimidated to protest.

haha.. well, seeing that they are an organization in *America*, working through the *American* court system to help out *American* Muslims.. they might be a bit Americanized :)  but what do you want them to be, Egyptian? :P

InshaAllah they're the best organization to contact for this sort of thing.

wasalaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllah :-)

That is so scarey. What is even more frightening is he reconised you even though you had niqab! How can he know who you are?! I have a suspicion they are 'investigating/following' any muslims and because your husband used to work at the Masjid they see him as a potential target (even though he hasn't done anything wrong!).

I know a guy near me who was collecting money for Afghansitan and he got arrested! The police have provided no valid reason for him being locked up but they have the power to perform these acts of injustice and get away with it. Nowadays I feel persecuted as a Muslim in the west.

You must definately talk to CAIR. Even if you make a complaint  against the police officer and they do not take your case seriously (because you are Muslim) I think its good to have support from influential people if anything else should happen against  you or your family.

That woman should have known better, that whole area, Ball and Lincoln is filled with Muslims and Arabic writing on many of the stores there.   How we he know about the Islamic Society?  That's in Garden Grove and he's in Anaheim.  Alhumdullilah you are ok.
