I just wanted to take a few minutes to share with you the kindness of two sisters. :) I'm going to be off school and work for 2 weeks starting this Wednesday, so I thought I'd take a day and go to a mosque. Seeing as I don't have anything to cover my hair with, I decided to go to an Islamic store near my house to buy a scarf (the same store I talked about in Sparrow's thread on going to a mosque). I was so confused because there were scarves all over the place in every fabric, size, colour and shape imaginable, so after standing around confused for a few minutes, I asked a woman who was also shopping for scarves if she wouldn't mind helping me. After explaining to her why I wanted a scarf, she told me all about a program that they have at her mosque, gave me directions to the mosque as well as the phone number and internet site, and told me I that I'm welcome anytime. :) She then helped me find a scarf, which was quite a little adventure. I can imagine what I looked like trying to figure out those pins. :o Afterwards, she insisted on giving it to me as a present. The sister who was working there also gave me a book on Islam. They were both sooooo nice. :) I must have thanked both of them over 10 times. I definitely left that store with a positive image on Islam.:) :-):-) :-) :-) :-) Julie:) |

[slm] Julie-- that was a terrific day! We had no stores to get scarves when I was studying Islam. I had to make my own-- and I don't sew :). That was 10 years ago- I still make some scarves, but the friendship those two sisters showed you is something you'll never forget, and In-sha-allah, can extend to another "searcher" someday :).
