| [slm] I have been a 'lurker' for awhile now so I thought I'd finally make my introduction. First of all, MashaAllah this an awesome site and the members of this board exhibit some of the brightest, and sweetest this Ummah has to offer... Let's call myself Murshidah which means 'A Guide' I think my real name is way too common so I found this nifty Islamic name book and picked out a new one :-) I am 17 years and I live in Atlanta, Georgia :( Just moved here actually and I don't know much longer I'll keep my sanity in this city LoL...Sabreen Jameel... I go to high schol and work. That's pretty much it for me- I know boring LoL...I love ladoos! I'm Pakistani/Saudi and German LoL...What a mix but MashaAllah it's pretty fun LoL... I also posted this intro to ask a question--We are hoping to move sometime this summer to somewhere in Chiacago, we're pretty clueless on where to go and how to get into contact with some Muslims there. My dad has heard a lot about Devon and he wants us to be back in a larger Muslim community. InshaAllah we will be coming up to Chicago a weekend this month or one next month. If anyone has any info on where is a good place to attend Jummah, where is a good community to live, how the high schools are for :-) or just any general info please, please help me out. | [wlm] Murshida Welcome to the board :-) I'm a Chicagoan (well a suburbanite technically). Ask me whatever questions you have, hopefully I can answer them. Umm near Devon, there are a lot of masajid. Most of them are for men only though ( :( ) A bit south though, we have MCC (Muslim Community Center) which is one of the oldest and one of the biggest mosques here. You may want to consider the suburbs. Most Muslim schools are in the suburbs. In Bridgeview for example, we have two, Universal and Aqsa. There's also a large mosque in Bridgeview-- Mosque Foundation, and there are a lot of Muslim businesses and organizational offices. Sound Vision has there headquarters in BridgeView, and a store attached to it (very very cool, visit if you can). By the way, SV also has a bookstore on Devon. So does Iqra. There are a lot of big masajids, and little onese all over the place. But if your looking for a good community, MCC would probably be best. There are also good public high schools in that area (Van Stuben, North Side Prep, etc). | slm, welcome aboard! enjoy your stay inshallah :) heh.. i live not too far from atlanta... im in birmingham, alabama.. its about 2 hours (150 miles) west of you.. to be honest, atlanta isnt that bad.. its pretty cool compared to where i live.. at least the muslim community is pretty big there mashallah - the welcoming wagon ;D |

| [slm] Yes, Meraji there is a big Muslim community but it's very spread out so it's not often you see Muslims in the area you happen to live in. We live in South Atlanta which is very very for lack of a better word 'ghetto country style' and I reckon that's why I'm going crazy LoL...
