Bismillah [slm] If you have a Qur'an recitation on, either from the radio or a cassette or whatever, is it okay to leave it running in the background and do something else, eg housework, computer etc? Or are you supposed to sit quietly and listen and concentrate...? Jazak Allah wasalaam eleanor :-* |

[slm] It's ok. Not the most revering, nor the most respectful, but nonetheless ok. And Allah (swt) knows best. |

When the Qur'an is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace: that ye may receive Mercy. 007.204 [slm] As far as I know, it's ok depending on the kind of work you're doing. If the work doesn't require concentration or mental engagement (eg doing the dishes, dusting, etc) then you can listen to the Quran recitation. But if it's soemting like using the computer or reading the newspaper etc then the recitation just gets reduced to the status of a background noise which of course is not acceptable.
