(slm) dear Madininites  :),

Aiight, it's the 'in' thing this year....everyone's turning 16, and here come the grand parties...er or so called  ;D. I know that birthdays are generally not celebrated by Muslims and I don't celebrate them either (I don't intend to start a birthday vs. no birthdays debate) but what do I do if I'm invited to a birthday party.

My friends are pretty decent people, Alhamdulillah, and they always respect my beliefs. There's no mixing of genders in their parties and it's generally a 'have-fun' atmosphere. They always invite me to go to movies or the mall with them but I usually come up with an excuse not to go, and I guess they understand that. They always greet me and give me presents for my birthday. And I don't wanna be rude to them but nor do I wanna compromise religion over the world.

My friend lives in the same building as I do, and she invited me to her b-day party. What do I do?!?! Any ideas, how did y'all deal with birthday parties??

Jazakallahu Khairan
