[slm] I found, after years of not being a very good Muslim, that when I became faithful in the saying of my prayers that every thing else fell into place. It helped center me and my thoughts away from myself and to Allah(swt), and opened me up to receiving His gifts. Hope this helps some. [wlm] :-) Laila |

[slm] Becoming a better muslim takes a lot of effort and it is not something that happens overnight. It takes hard work and discipline but it is well worth the effort that you can invest into improving yourself. One suggestion is to surround yourself with practicing muslims. They help a lot, not just because they are a really good source of islamic information, but because they can give you a sense of community. You can also try to start good habits and try to keep up with them, like praying 2 extra rakahs before sleeping, but try to concentrate and not let your mind deviate. Although, don't give up if you do let your mind wander. God recognizes our struggles to be good when we are sincere. Reading Koran every day is really helpful beacuse it puts things into perspective and reminds you that the devil is an enemy, that you are striving for heaven which is ETERNAL and not hell which is also ETERNAL and that we will all return to God in the end. You don't have to read a lot of it all in one sitting. A page everyday with concentration that you try to apply to your life is better than reading pages and not being alert at all. Above all, don't stress yourself out or be too hard on yourself. Be firm with yourself but be realistic and moderate. If you overwhelm yourself, you'll just be pulled more away from the religion than towards it, which is something you definitely want to avoid. May God guide us all to the straight path. [wlm] |

[slm] As far as I knew we are able to pray as many nawafil prayers to Allah (swt) as we can with sincerity and hoping for reward.....the more the better ;) The only times that we are not able to pray these nawafil prayers are: 1)Just after fajr prayer 2)Between Asr and Maghrib prayers Cool! No restrictions in gaining reward ;D I think you asked something that every muslim is striving for, to inshallah be a mumin. To contemplate over ayat in the Quran, and try to implement these in my day to day activities often helps me to have a good 'sip on life' [] (a real challenge) I also try to memorise some of the Quran whenever I can, this way the words of Allah (swt) are with me whereva I go!! These are real challenges for me, but does focus my mind and keeps me on track :) hope it helps! [wlm] :-) |
