What Happened Next?

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-)

A bit of fun for this fair Friday. The Brits will know how this works.

I'm going to relate to you a real life incident which happened to me yesterday and all you need to do is guess what unusual/funny/bizarre thing happened next.

[hr]

So there I was on the tube[subway] going home. The carriage was packed with people as usual and the temperature was rising due to the unusually hot weather.

The train came into a station and set off passengers and others came on. The doors shut and the train started to make its way out of the station. So……

Someone came up to you and it was an old friend from school and they'd become Muslim?  ;D

All of a sudden the subway was floating in a river, appearantly a water line broke.  The subway made its way down to the thames river and eventually out to the atlantic ocean.  It was white water rafting, British style.  The subway started to fill with water, and people started to swim for safety.  [What's about to happen next, is what happened in a dream I had 2 days ago].  So everyone is swimming, when all of a sudden about 30 sharks are swimming nearby, everyone stops, so as not to make a splash.  Bhaloo spots a pair of watches in a box in the water and grabs hold of them and throws them in front of the sharks, it creates a huge splash and the sharks fight for the watches.  All of a sudden some penguins are swimming by, and bhaloo says, come on guys, nows are chance to swim back to land. So we all swim back to safety and to land.  :)

....suddenly amidst the crowd, heat and noise of the tube you heard someone mumble "jannah.org message board"? Your reaction was "WHO in the Lords name was that???!" You helplessly looked around to no avail with those irritating tourists blocking your view. :)

Right?

Or you saw a Bin laden lookalike? 8)

Br. khalid looks down while standing in the subway car. His face is overcome with a sudden expression of horror as he finds out that he is wearing two different shoes!! Now he understands the strange looks he had been receiving all day at the office.

Who wanted reality? My guess: the tube stops for no good reason in a tunnel... the driver doesn't make an announcement... all the people who had been sitting uncomfortabley next to each other get even more uncomfortable.... all the people standing start sweating profusely and getting palpitations... all the people sitting down are glad they are not standing up... some girl who has been standing with her face practically in some bloke's armpit starts to sway dangerously... everyone else watches on interestedly but no one asks her if she's okay (could be a drug addict, serial murderer... "don't want to get involved..")
Just as everyone is about to start screaming with frustration, the tube lurches off again as if nothing had happened... the collective sigh of relief can be felt rather than heard.....

and the day goes on.. as ever....

Am I even remotely close???

assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

A brother came onto the train, you salaam'd him and exchanged pleasantries. Then in typical brother fashion he asked "so, are you married brutherrr?" to which your first thought was "eh? whats it got to do with you mate?" though you politely replied "yes."

Happens to me all the time.

Arshad, far out dude...!

Eleanor... sis, thats what happens every weekday in the morning rush.

zomorrud, hahahaha... sis you reminded me of this hilarious experience of my own (sorry for kinda hijacking the thread Br Khalid).

Anyhow, it was a jumu'ah and i had a job interview (for the current place i work at) after salaah. My dad called me from his workplace in the morning  saying he needed some help with some things. So i went there and finished late enough that i had to rush back home, dress up for the interview and then go to the masjid.

Khair, jumu'ah finished and i got on the train to go to the interview place. On the train i tried to go over what i was going to say at the interview - cos a good technique at interviews is to talk in such a way that you direct the interview by your own comments - but nothing would come to mind. So i just put my head in my hands and looked down...

Gordon Bennett!! I was wearing the trousers of one suit and the jacket of another suit: one was light grey and the other black!

In the end i went to a mosque in Chancery Lane left the jacket there, and attended the interview wearing only an overcoat over my shirt.

Alhumdulillah i got the job.

Okay Bhaloo, what kinda dreams have you been having recently? ;-)

Sorry not even close but definitely better than the actual answer ;-)

I wish Sr Mariam.

Actually it was one of these rare occasions where I did get a seat which is pretty unusual in itself.

Nope explorer….no jannah.org shout and no Bin Ladens.

I like Sr Zomorrud’s answer [She’s the Scully to Bhaloo’s Mulder] ;) , but no it wasn’t that.

Kashif bro if someone *didn’t* ask you if you were married, that would be the real surprise ;-) . Nice story

Sr Maliha – you’re right!!! ;-)

I did go home but only after….

Sr Eleanor, you’ve basically summarized my journey to and from work every day!!! But from everyone thus far you’re the closest.

Keep on guessing guys cos I for one am having mucho fun with these answers ;-)

Assalamu'alaikum :-)

Errr ... well... let me have a go.

You noticed that a pair of eyes kept glancing at you. Even in the sweltering heat.... the stare seemed to send shivers down your spine.

You tried to look away.... though uncomfortable... pretended that everything's alright.

You tried to read the papers you've got in your hands... and once it a while... fan yourself with it.

Suddenly, you noticed that the man, who has been watching you is coming towards you... and he started to give a smile....

You got up from your seat... made your way to the door...

But before you knew it, he's behind you... and breathed....

"Excuse me...."

"Are you a model?"

:-/  :-/  :-/

Eh, Br Khalid? r U a model?   ;D  :-/

Wassalam!

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah

Lemme guess!!!Lemme guess!!pleasepleaseplease

Brother Khalid is sitting in the sub all relaxed and satisfied.Thinking to himself .."Alhamdullilah it has been one fine day"His grumpy boss had been strangely cheery all day .Brkhalid was pleased for once he got all his work done beforethe deadline! That was an achievment in itself! Moreover the khutbah of the khateeb .Ahhhhh..what an eloquent speaker.Brkhalid pondered over his message of unifying amongst ourselves and strenghthening the mozlamic bond ..All these wonderful reflections when suddenly br khalid realised ...."OH SHHHHHHHHHugar!!!!!!!!!!!!!He forgot to buy his wifey a gift .Today was their anniversary......Brkhalid was intending to buy her beautiful carnations from the florist  for weeks if not months ....How could he forget????!!oh man he grew madd at himself ....
but what could he do ....nothing could be done now...when he reach home he sheepishly apologised to his wife. She being the wonderfulmuslimah she is ,mashaallah forgave him and they lived Habbily ever after. ;-) :-)

or maybe ...it was announced on the PA sys "Sorry the train has been delayed due to unforseen circumstances .Please be patient and remain seated "Everybody got very annoyed and agitated and start grumbling and unfairly abusing the transport minister under their breaths .But not Brkhalid ...No waay...he knows that which was to miss himwould not hit him ...and that which hits him was never to miss him.So he just keeps his kool and soon enough the train starts off to its destination .

okay i gif up :'(

Fret not Sr Barr, I have no intention of giving up the day job just yet ;-)

Wired, great try on both counts but alas no. I like the Carnations though, you have good taste. ;-)

As to what really happened last Friday……

Well all I can say is that this incident confirmed to me how much the Brits are quintessentially errrmm……how can I put it…..British. ;-)

As the doors closed, there was a gentle hush in the carriage. Then, as if out of nowhere it happened.

Everyone knew what had just happened. Be they young or old, tall or small, standing or sitting - they knew.

A sound so recognisable and distinctly audible that not even the sound of the train could drown it out.

For that spilt second after, there was a pregnant pause. No one knew what to do. To be fair no one knew what they *should* do.

I looked up momentarily from reading my paper and looked at the faces around me and all I could see was……..nothing. No disapproving looks, no mutterings, no angry glances…..nothing. Complete you-could-hear-a-pin-drop silence. Not wishing to look conspicuous I dived back down and carried on reading my paper. After all, I didn't want to be seen as the guilty culprit!!! [I wasn't]

After a few seconds, a solitary lady, a couple of seats down, started to laugh and within myself I followed her. By that time, you see, it wasn't the event that was funny but the *reaction* to it that was amazing. Nothing. Nada. Zippo. Big Zero.

I mean where in the world, apart from Britain, do you get someone (if they were Muslim) clearly and audibly needing to re do their wudhu on a crowded public train and everyone just stays silent and pretends they didn't hear?

A few seconds later, the lady stopped laughing, the train carried on running and I made my way slowly home.

With hindsight I think I would have preferred being swept out in to the Atlantic ;-)

Wow, that's SO British!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder what would have happened in America.  They might have made a big joke about it to relieve tension and get everyone laughing, or they might have started a contest. :D
Ugh, that reminds me, the people of Lut used do that and laugh in those clubs of theirs.  That's how disgusting they'd become.  Maybe the brits are the extreme opposite.
