Hi guys~Here's a new recipie I want to share that was given to me a few weeks back 8)  For you who are chocoholics, the chocolate version of this recipie is a chocolate lover's dream come true! For the rest of you  :-* this recipie works with just about anything.  You'll see what I mean.

Friendship bread:

Preparation tips:
Do not use a metal spoon or bowl for mixing--use plastic, glass, rubber or wood. If air gets in the bag, release it.  It is normal for batter to thicken, bubble and ferment.

Instructions:
Day 1.  Combine 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk in a bowl and then pour mixture into a plastic ziplock bag. Do nothing else with the batter this day--lay bag flat on countertop.

Day 2.  Squeeze bag several times
Day 3.  Squeeze bag several times
Day 4.  Squeeze bag several times
Day 5.  Squeeze bag several times

Day 6.  Add 1 C flour, 1 C sugar, 1 C milk to the bag.
Squeeze bag several times. Place flat on counter.

Day 7.  Squeeze bag several times
Day 8.  Squeeze bag several times
Day 9.  Squeeze bag several times

Day 10.  In large non-metal bowl combine batter with 1 C flour, 1 C sugar, 1 C milk.  Mix well with non-metal spoon--usee wooden, plastic or rubber spoon.  Pour 3  (three) one cup measures of the batter starter into three one-gallon ziplock bags.  Give two away to friends, and set one back into your freezer for future use.  Your friends will not have to do anything with the batter on day one--they can simply lay the bag flat and do nothing, and follow all of the direction starting the day after they recieve the batter on day 2.

You will then have 1 cup of batter left.  To the remaining batter ADD:

1 C oil                                              1/2 C milk
1 C sugar                                         2 C  flour
1 tsp. vanilla                                    1 small box  vanilla pudding
3 large eggs                                    1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt                                     1 1/2 tsp. baking pwd.
1 Tablespoon cinnamon

Optional ingrediants:
1 C raisons
1 C chopped nuts

Or: coconut pudding and coconut flakes (leave out the vanilla pudding)
Or: Chocolate pudding and 1 C. chocolate chips.  :-/

And: When using raisons and nuts you might sprinkle your well greased pan with cinnamon and sugar, and sprinkle the top of your batter.

Pour your batter into bundt pan or two well greased loaf pans.  Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour until done (test with toothpick). Cool before serving.

;D Enjoy! :-*-- Patti  []

Actually:   ::)  Well you have to start this bread with a starter--you shou'ld probably add a tablespoon of dry yeast to the mix on the first day.  Otherwise how would the bread raise?  I hadn't thought of that.  I just recieved the starter--so not sure.  You can by the starter online listed under Amish Friendship bread.  I think I would just slightly warm the milk, add the T of dry yeast, and go from there.  After making the starter once, You probably wouldn't ever have to add yeast ever again.  Welp, hope you like it.   Mine was real good.  Patti
