Woah! That is just......er.....I can't find the words to describe! :-[

The review of the story was breathtaking enough! And that scene of the armies standing at Badr was *awesome*

Can't wait for the full version. This definately appeals to the younger generation but is a great refresher for all of us :)

Arsalan, how did you find this?! :o Have a bebzi on me []

asalaamu alaikum,

i don't think it said anything about being in theaters in the US, somehow i just don't see that happening.  It said it would be released in theaters in some arab countries.
insha-allah we'll get it on dvd when it comes out.

Salaams,

K, this is not right at all. Seriously, how can someone visualize and make a MOVING IMAGE
of the Prophet? And here we are supporting it? I was upset over Prince of Egypt. Y'know
how ugly they made him look? Astaghfirullah, instead of being all happy over it, we should
try and stop it. This is seriously NOT right.

Salaam Anon,
The animation won't be showing the Prophet(saw) - stated in the 'characters' section. From one or two of the clips shown it seems the Prophet will be identified by the 'camera' position. ie. people will be facing the camera when he is referred to, if you get what I mean. The same conept was applied in the movie 'the message'.

The animation will only show Hamza from behind.

Assalamu Alaikum

To brother/sister Anonymous, next time read the information available before rushing to
conclusions. It clearly states that NO image of the Prophet is in the film.

Muhammad, the Last Prophet Animated Feature
"Muhammad, the Last Prophet (PBUH)" is set to be released in theaters in June 2002. The 90-minute film was directed by Richard Rich and is the first full-length animated feature about the history and events of the Prophet’s life. Badr International, who produced the film, worked with American artists and directors to create the Hollywood style animated film. The $12 million animated film is expected to be released simultaneously in Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates. The film has reportedly received permits from Al-Azhar, according to Al-Ahram Weekly.

Level 3 Post Teams Up on Animated Home Videos
Badr International and RichCrest Animation Create Animated Series
Page 1 of 1

BURBANK, Calif. (May 24, 2002) -- Level 3 Post and RichCrest Animation have completed post-production on Badr International’s three-piece home video series based on the Islamic animated film Muhammad: The Last Prophet. Badr International will distribute the series throughout the United States.

Muhammad: The Last Prophet was a dream project of Muwaffak Al-Harithy, who also executive-produced the animated film and its companion series. Based on the life and teachings of Muhammad, the videos were created to “teach peace and love to children using animation as a tool,” says Producer Terry Noss at RichCrest Animation. He adds, “Muwaffak was unhappy with what was going on in the Islamic countries [prior to the events of September 11], and how it lost its vision. By creating these animated pieces, it allows for more of a family-type feel in revisiting that lost vision of peace and love.”

Revisiting that vision was not easy at first. As RichCrest Animation worked with animators and designers at Korean design-house Hanho Studios, tapes were coming in, and a dilemma was born. AIT–2 Drive (Advanced Intelligence Tape) tapes were being sent back to RichCrest Animation that needed to be rendered. At the time RichCrest was only using exabyte tapes and therefore, sent the AIT tapes out. Outsourcing the tapes delayed the post production process even further. Noss then consulted with Tom Tippets, Level 3 Post Account Executive, who researched the problem and came up with a solution. Level 3 Post acquiring an AIT machine.

Why AIT? “Because more data can be stored on an AIT, and the AIT technology cuts down on download time by a third of what it would it be,” states Noss. Helena Liuag, production manager for RichCrest Animation adds, “In essence, it saves the client’s money because less downloading time means less supervising, which translates to a financial savings.”

With an AIT machine in hand and a streamlined process in place, the remaining post work was easy. Level 3 Post’s VFX Supervisor and Compositer, Richard Hiltzik, says, “The rest of it laid off in real time and came back in almost real time for the assembly, it was very quick. We did the up-res and everything looked great. The three projects went together very well.”

Level 3 Post’s newest addition will be used on many upcoming projects. Tippets explains, “Our plan is to use it for additional shows with animation, graphics, and CG effects.” Not only will the AIT machine prove itself invaluable to Level 3 Post, but to other Liberty Livewire Pictures’ facilities as well; making the collaboration between the family of facilities even greater.

The three half-hour pieces follow the premise of the animated film and are titled “Before the Light: From Zamzam to the Year of the Elephant”, “Salman, The Persian: A companion to the Prophet (Pbuh)”, and “Great Women of Islam: At the Time of the Prophet Muhammad”. Each half-hour piece tells the courageous story of Islamic faith through the eyes of one of the main characters. With an animated background, the stories are told in a lively and colorful manner that is educational for both children and parents.
