| [slm] i've seen this before on the madina, but i can't find it now. What are ways to liven a dead heart? when things just don't affect you anymore...you pray yet you don't feel as if you just had. what is there to liven a dead heart? |

| Try the easy good deeds: http://www.jannah.org/cgi-bin/morearticles/headlines.pl?2 Some of these things help. The most important suggestion is to get yourself to a class on Islam. Any class on like seerah or purifying the soul or jumuah regularly etc.. these things motivate the heart... |

| [slm] I remember a halaqah I attended on this before. Some of the things that were mentioned were ... 1. maintain a regular diet of healthy ilm [knowledge] 2. recite a specified portion of the Qur'an *regularly* (in Arabic only at least, preferrably Arabic + meaning) 3. perform muhaasabah [self accountability] on a regular basis, where you sit down in solitude and reflect on what you did throughout the day 4. try to maintain a state of dhikr [remembrance] of Allah (swt) by your tongue (at least) and your heart 5. remind yourself of death from time to time (read books on death, talk about it with others, visit graveyards, etc) 6. remind yourself of Jannah [Paradise] and Naar [Hell] from time to time 7. hang around people who remind you of Allah (swt), and rid yourself of bad company And Allah (swt) knows best. P.S. I just want to emphasize that #2 is *extremely* important. I have experienced it myself almost having a magical effect on the heart. Try reading it every day for about a month. You will see the difference yourself, bi-idhnillaahi ta'aala. |

| salam ...remeberence of allah (swt) theres this book called..."the purification of the soul" i think its a good book, n its got quotes fr hadiths n the quran! i think u shud read it! |
