Looking to Make Female Muslim Friends

Hello,

This is my first time here.  I just registered this nite.

I am a 35 year old widowed mother of two beautiful young boys.  Thier ages are 7 and 3.  I have been widowed for a year and a half now.  I am a practicing Christian - non denomination.

I have come to know a wonderful man on the Internet, who lives in Morocco and is a Muslim.  We (my sons and I) will be meeting him in June.  He and I feel very close to one another.  We are talking about marriage.  My heart is very happy and when I think of being with him, I am at peace.  I believe God is drawing us together.

It is my desire to become friends with some female Muslims.  I want to understand the religion better and also customs.  This gentleman is a good Muslim and he has helped explain things.  But he cannot provide explanations and understanding from a woman's point of view.

I also care about him and his family and do not want to make any embarrassing mistakes on my part, just because I didn't understand something or just didn't know about it.

Please, I beg of you....I respect you and your religion...please respect me and mine.  I have tried to go into some Islamic chat rooms and am sometimes not treated too friendly.

Thanks for your time,
CherokeeWoman

[slm]  (Assalamu Alaikum = Peace be upon you)

Hi sister :) Welcome to the board. If you are looking for mutual respect and answers to questions then you have come to the right place! :) You might want to read some threads in the Akhwat Café (sisters section) or the Al-Manar Lighthouse (for new Muslims/interested non-Muslims).

Above all, have fun.......Let the questions begin!!!!!  ;)

wasalaam (and peace)

Greetings of Peace and Blessings Cherokee. I am warmed in the heart to hear that you have connected with another person in such a beautiful way. May Allah SWT grant you 2 many wonderful years together. I grew up in Western North Carolina, near Cherokee. I wish to return there someday. You shouldn't worry too much about making mistakes, I'm sure the brother and his family understand that you are unfamiliar and I'm sure they will be patient and gentle Inshallah. I became muslim 4 yrs ago alhamdulillah. It was quite an adjustment but the best thing that could ever happen to me. I am looking forward to seeing some questions and posts from you.

Greetings! ;D

I am a new revert to Islam, and I was brought up in a Christian household. I think it would be great for us to keep in touch! We can discuss the things that we have in common, and we can learn more about Al - Islam together! :-*
I am 28, remarried, and the mother of 3 children (mine are 8 and 3 - my husband's daughter is 4). My husband was born and raised Muslim also.
Feel free to write me anytime!  8)

Hope to hear from you soon, Insha ALLAH!

E.  :-)
