Assalamualaikum warahamtullah wabarakatuhu

Sis Seven wrote in a previous thread:
Not only do I say/return salaam, but I engage in *actual conversation* with people of the opposite sex, and I smile, and I laugh sometimes too.

This really got me thinking.

What is a sisters Attitude to be in public..whether it is at work /school  or the park.I go to study part-time where everybody including the teacher are men .That's coz i dont have much of an option .How should my behaviour be towards them ?

I know that most non-believers think fallible muslims are the infallible Islam .That makes me more conscious than ever of my behaviour.Bug under the microscope anyone. Also being prolly the worst ever dawah giver born I think I really need to start some dawah training of some kind.

Some examples of my geek-o-ness:

Boy:     why do you wear that thing?(ie jilbaab)
me: err..err...most confused look ..and unsure self..modesty i guess
Boy:     its $#% 40c outside ..you think i should move around in an overcoat coz i am modest.
me: no..no..ofcourse not...its not for men ..if i don't mind wearing it why should you mind my wearing it?
Boy:     seriously what's it for??
me: women are more precious i guess,
Boy and friend :giggles
Boy :    your parents force you right ?..exceessively convinced and sure ..
me: on the defense ..no ofcourse not ,,non...no..its not like thaat ..its my choice.also ,if i have chosen to be muslim i might as well follow the entire reilgion rather than what suits me
Shaitan:dont be a hypocrite(naouzobillaH).you dont wear niqaab coz thaat suits you fine .
me:    ???
teacher:you wear that coz its part of your religion
me:  yeahhhh.:).but you cant catch any stray women on the street and force it on her.you can only advise her.

Also other incidents happened when i was @school in which i blew away my purrfect dawah moments but i doubt you want to hear those horrendous tales as well.

Is it enuf to say in such cases when its men ie..."its my religion".
Non-belivers always question ...WHY?
Muslims say we hear and obey.
Don't mean we are dumb but we are smart enough Alhamdullilah to know we aren't so smart as to comprehend the Mysteries of the Universe. And that our lill' minds may never grasp even the most simple of concepts.Very humbling.
But everytime non-muslims ask WhY?Why hijaab..why polygamy .why ban on certain things?...why why why...
coz the sky is so high.

I think I am getting a split personality .
One side of me says you have to educate these people about the basics of Islam other wise they are goin be thinking stereotype muslims all their life

Another side of me says ..be a modest muslimah ..Dont talk unless ABSOLUTELY essential .lower your gaze .and answer guys in monosyllables.
Actions speak louder than words.Talk to girls about Islam .My invitationsto Islam should be to females only .Leave it to the brothers to educate the men.
Allahuakbar!!!..

I am a confused 19 yr old today..

I hope I made some sense ...
Jazakhallah Khair
take care
assalamualaikum warahmatullah

Ps:I would like to hear from the brothers too how they would like to see their sisters behave outside.
Do brothers  feel happy if sisters initiate salaam to them or they think unaccompinied sisters dont give salaam.
I want to write more but this post has gone already way too long.Jazakhallah khair for reading :)

I tried to be creative and ended up deleting posts instead of just moving them!

I am so sorry! One sister removed a post- which then the next post was made in responce, then she reposted it...- nothing made sence. So I tried to put everthing back in order... :'(

funny- the only comment i could save was mine....
some would say it was a conspiracy....

Trust me, wired-up, we all face these dilemas in one way or another. This is a good place to post your feelings- annonymously.

Too often we are afraid to ask questions in our community. Jannah's board gives us the opportunity to ask for help and Insha Allah resolve our questions.  It is also  comforting to know that we are not the only ones facing issues, that we are not alone.

I am glad you re-posted.
My Dearest se7en,

I  learned a long time ago to "never bite the hand that feeds you." but even if you weren't feeding me ( i can just see the puzzled faces of the non- americans), I would never want to stop you....

...not that i can....

Another saying just came to mind "becareful of who you step on the way up the ladder...."

and umm... after this happening I probably won't make any more comments about the board crashing when a certain sister was in charge...
