The last time i tried something similar to this, it was a complete failure, probably showing us why me muslims are in such a sad state. We couldn't even form a cyber group to give Dawa so what hope is thier for us forming groups for jihad when we cannot even form an active one on the internet? How are we gona defend and protect muslim lands with jihad groups if we cannot even form a group on the internet?

Anyway i was watching newsnight last night and the jews are putting massive pressure on the US media and government to do as they say. They have many pressure groups, and seem very successfull in jumping up together and uniting to support some thng, and crush others by pressure and politcal means.

We muslims, dont have much.

I know this is probably gona be another failure as most muslim plans always go downhill, but i was thinking maybe we should form a Pro-Palestinian/Anti Israeli pressure group, online. So this would allow all of us to email support to writers such as robert fisk and others who write pro-palestinian articles OR speak out agianst Israeli barbarity.

Also we could all separately email and critisize Pro-Israeli writers and put pressure on them. Them getting hundreds of emails of angre aimed at thier views may make them change their stance slightly.

No doubt the israeli's are doing this to pro-palestinians writers. So why dont we do it to pro-israeli's?

We dont do much for the palestinians, and even though this may not be much, its better than nothing.

So anyone interested in forming a Pro-Palestinina pressure group?

I was listening to BBC Radio 5 Live this morning and there was an interview with a lady (I think she was Xtian) who is currently one of the many in the church of the nativity.

The interviewer was asking her views on the whole thing, as an insider, and whether she thought that some of the palestinians taking refuge in the church were 'dangerous terrorists'. I was quite amzed at her views. She called the israeli army barbaric and said they were to blame for all that was going on.

She spoke of an incident that almost brought tears to my eyes...she said that the israeli's had cut off all water supplies to the church and food supplies, they were rationed on a couple of spoons of water a day...she said that at her surprise a few palestinian women had managed to bring some food to a side entrance of the church, despite the heavy army presence. She said that the palestinans in the church were overjoyed at the thought of eating good food in almost a month.

However, the israeli army caught them and threw grenades and 'what not' at the door to which they were trying to sneak food into an stopped them.

It makes me so sad to see the majority of the world siding with the israeli's. Can they not see how 'evil' they are?

U're right bro mujaahid...something...anything...has to be done!

nisa.

mujaahid,

this is a great idea.  (hmmm.....am i invited to join?  i think i get to be called a "member" now.....)

i spend most of my non-research time doing this anyway - and still don't write as much as i'm
needed to.  but it gets disheartening when nothing seems to change for years and you feel you're
working nearly alone < which is never the case, but it can sometimes feel that way.

we each will have our own style, of course  ;)  - i think few minds are changed when anger is directed
at them, but the expression of heartfelt passion has an effect, nonetheless.

Now, where do i start?

First of all, Jazaakullah to all those who offered to join this possible group-. Rememeber anyone is invited to be part of it, that includes non-muslims also.

Now, thier were 5 responses, and 75 views. I think this is disgraceful. I could really go into this now all guns blazing, but i wont, well maybe i will speak my mind without going beyond the house rules.

All i wanna say is that if those 75 views were from muslims, then shame on all those who did not offer to join, shame on you. What a let down you all are to the Palestinians.

I wasnt asking you to join a Military Jihad, i wasnt asking for any donations of money, i wasnt asking you to travel anywhere, all i was asking was for all the muslims on this board to spare 10 minutes once in a while to write a couple of emails of support for people who write in favour of the palestinians, people in the mainstream media. It wasnt much.

What does this show about the sorry state of the muslims? You cannot even offer a bit of Moral Support to those who put themselves in the firing line. Yes, people like Robert Fisk have guts to stand up and openly and harsly critisize Israel, knowing he will face a major backlash everytime from Jewish pressure groups, zionist supporters, israel coporations, Jewish MP's, and anyone else who is silly enough to follow the Anti-Semitism line. Yet him and others still stand up and speak the truth, time and again, but sadly we muslims cannot even offer a bit of moral support to these guys.

Where are our muslim journalists? They hide like cowards, to afriad too make it into the spotlight and critisize Israel harshly and openly in the mainstream media. The only ones critising the jews are the courages non-muslims who have thier hearts in the right place. The non-muslims are doing what WE should be doing. Sadly we're too busy arguing about how some other muslim prays, or keeps his beard, or how some other
Mudhab has got it all wrong.

We muslims, we love to scream and shout, but when it comes to well planned and prepared and thoughout responses and well organised planning, what do we do? We slowly sneak away, wanting to avoid any REAL efforts.

To all those muslims who read the first post and did not respond, imagine how a palestinian living in Jenin would feel at that total lack of support from the muslims.

We wanna launch Jihad, we wanna crush the Israeli's, we wanna defend muslim lands from Military superpowers ??? Do we? Do we really think we will ever be able to do that?

Dont make me laugh. ALL that stuff requires well organised efforts, hard effort. Years of planning and preparation. But forget it.

What chance have we ever got of doing anythig like that when we cannot even create a small group whose members are required to give only a few minutes of thier time once in a while.

Pull yourselves together guys.

Jihad? Liberate Palestine? Defeat the kuffar in Iraq? That aint ever gona happen if we cannot organise ourselves into groups of action!

I'm off to dwell on the hopeless position we muslims are in.

I was hoping we would get at least 20 members to join as a minimum. Seems i was wildly dreaming for something that is not likely to happen.

mujahid, give them some time, inshallah the rest will come out, i just woke up and saw this thread so maybe someinterested people havent seen it yet,

one thing i agree on, is that there neeeeeeeeeeds to be muslim journalists, its always muslims that feel we need to be only lawyers, doctors, engineers,

as muslims we need to  spread every possible career there is, which is not haram.....

become a journalist:)

Mujaahid why are you so quick to judge Muslims man!!! What happened to having a favorable opinion of your brothers and sisters? I read it, and didn't feel the need to reply cuz I was waiting for the next move...and I'm sure others were thinking the same too...It wouldn't make sense to have 75 people saying the same thing over and over again!
If you want to organize anything the key is to start with positive energy and *faith* in those you are going to work with :P
People only rise up to the best of what's expected of them, sometimes a kind word of encouragement goes a looonggg way in eliciting boundless enthusiasm....let's keep that in mind as we make our plans moving forward...

OK, maybe i was a BIT harsh.

" sometimes a kind word of encouragement goes a looonggg way in eliciting boundless enthusiasm...."

OK, OKAY!!! All you lovely poeple out thier, would you like to form an online pro-palestinians pressure group? Please? Pretty please? Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Sorry, but i can't help being sarcastic. Its too late for the nice-nice approach. Poeple, esepcially the muslims need a real hard kick up the backsides to really get them moving.

Sadly seems muslim backsides have become rather tough over the years  :D

120 views, only several agree to join! Imagien if they all decided to join, or even half, that would be 60 people, imagine the influence we could have, and the support we could give to certain individuals in the media spotlight.

Come on guys, lets make this happen.

Much as I try to avoid replying to this one (as I have been away for quite sometime and I did not want my comeback post to be umm..less than friendly) I feel I must.

Yes, I read this appeal of yours and did not volunteer IMMEDIATELY.  The operative word here is immediately Mujaahid. Why ? Well the cause is noble enough. BUT ?

Because I have learnt to be cautious. In any project and in any undertaking, who leads the cause is a very important factor in determining the success or the failure of the cause. With due respect to your latter post, call me a coward, call me callous or call me
anything you want, but I find that I have a very strong apprehension against a leader who resorts to sarcasm and irresponsible accusations against responsible Muslims. And I definitely have a very strong aversion against being compared and held responsible for whatever unfortunate experience you have had with some people in the past with regards to your campaigns.

I read the post late and thus find that your accusatory remarks unhelpful.

I think its time we all Istighfar.  Me first actually. Astaghfirullah.

Just as a point of interest, how about we all join the Islamic Human Rights Commission here in the UK.  they were the ones who organised a counter-rally against the pro-israel march in london this weekend.
they send out regular campaign packs with letters that you can copy or adapt to send to foreign ministers, journalists, UN commissioners etc.  they do this for muslims from all countries not just the palestinians for example they have packs for gujurat, for an imam who is facing the death penalty in the US for murder, for palestine etc.  check out their website at

www.ihrc.org where you can download their campaign packs and stuff.

P.s i have to say the reason i didn't respond to your post bro mujaahid is that i believe we need to strengthen the existing groups, and make them stronger rather than creating new groups.

Now just one second, before you guys start critisizing my "leadership", i never said i want to lead or be in charge of this group. I simply put forward an idea of forming a group. I dont remeber me mentioning i would be the chairman or anything!

Now, before we form a plan of action, we need large numbers. I'm not gona go to the efforts to researching how pressure groups operate and work if knowones gona join it!

I/we need to first see if thier is gona be any commitment from the others to wanna be part of an active help group for the palestinians.

Many of those page views are from lurkers like me.

Also many people like myself are already involved in public pressure groups/activist
within their own communites.

So like the others said don't be too quick to judge. Just because we didn't sign up for
initiatve it doesn't mean we are not doing anything. Muslims do care and are doing
something.

I want to see the game plan too!

Dawah is very important to me- and I have seen way too much "American Bashing" to be associated with those that live for it and/or do not have the maturity level or sensitivities to address the problems in an effective way.

As the previous posts indicate- I too am very involved- seems like I am giving  a speaking engagement on all of my nights free.

Can I do more? Sure. I just want to be effective. I am hear to help- ...just  picking my battles....as no soldier has ever been able to fight on all fronts.

Your energy Mujahhid is very encouraging!  :)  but instead of trying to "re-invent the wheel", why not support groups that are already established and who really need help in becoming even bigger and better organizations? One group that a friend of mine closely works w/ is called "Citizens for Fair Legislation"  www.cfl-online.org. It's a grassroots organization in the US that is trying to work w/ getting lobby groups together to counteract the pro-israeli lobby groups here.

Ruqayyah i like your idea, BUT......(suspence builds).....

......wouldnt it be even better if we had a large group from the jannah boards who ALL go and suport these groups, rather then individuals? If you form one big group here, we can all go together and give support to certain other organisations!!!

But someone else is gona have to be the organisers, because as i said, i get the feeling some bros/sisetrs may go sulking into the corner if i am heavily involved  ;)

So come on guys, form a Jannah Pro-Palestinian pressure group, and together we can go and support other groups and create a massive global network.

Dearest sister Attia, As I said take the good leave the bad.

When I do a search on the net I can come across man muslim groups, however they all have some problems in one way or the other. What we must do is advise and guide.  And if anyone can come with some better organisation and skills let us help them.

And if you are in the UK Sis Attia, and if you know of any other muslim groups please let me know, perhaps we can help them or they can help us in this hour of need.

Hope it helps.
