| [slm] Refuse to share your husband's bed uploaded 04 May 2002 IT wasn't a joke, the suggestion floated by an angry Arab woman during a live TV debate on an Arab satellite channel last week. Distressed and saddened by the tragic situation in the occupied Palestinian lands and the failure of Arab men to stand up to Israel, the woman asked all married Arab women to refuse to share their husbands' beds! This was to be done in protest at the humiliation and surrender to the Israeli occupation forces. Arab men, watching the massacre of Palestinians and the destruction of their homes and the Palestinian infrastructure at the hands of the criminal soldiers of the arch-terrorist, Sharon, kept silent. All they were able to do was to cry and wail while demonstrating and shouting empty slogans. They did little more than give fiery speeches and recite poetry while sipping tea and watching TV. The suggestion by the woman - who actually proclaimed the death of Arab manhood, saying that Arab men do not deserve to share their wives' beds -reveals to a large extent the state of impotence, helplessness and humiliation that continues to shroud the Arab and Muslim world. Not only that, even Arab Christians continue to watch the killing of Palestinians as if they were not concerned with the matter at all. All that Muslims could do while watching Israeli soldiers demolish mosques and prevent worshipers from praying is demonstrate as if demonstrations had replaced jihad. Christians all over the world watch while Israeli soldiers lay siege to the Church of tha Nativity, the birthplace of Jesus, but they do nothing for fear of antagonizing the Jews. Do men like these deserve to share their wives' beds? The suggestion by that lady was very timely. Maybe one day Arab manhood will move to break the wall of fear and silence. Will the men still shout empty slogans at demo's? Maybe if the Arab women do what they are threatening to, these men may really start waking up and realising just how unmanly they have become. |

| [slm] I think the idea is sad, and degrading to both women and men. It is implying that (a) the only hold women have over men is that of sex and (b) that the only thing men will understand is the withdrawal of it. Come on. wasalaam eleanor  :-* |

| [slm], Sad indeed, but we need to question ourselves have we fallen that low???... where is the Salahuddin, where is the Khalid Bin waled, where is the Abu Hamza, where is Abu Dujanah of today ???? Where are the real men that will defend the honour... how long are we going to be in this pittiful state ??? We are only concerned of ourselves today and that is true no one can deny it... at one time if there was a muslim being oppressed in some country the army would be dispatched to rescue him/her. Now adays our sisters and brothers get raped in Kashmir, there are sisters in Russain goulags naked, stripped and behind bars, the Palestinians are treated worse than dogs, there are muslims in Saudi who preach the truth against corruption and vice and get battered. Now it seems even the non muslims get attacked and get death threats, Robert Fisk has recently been threatened that his family is going to be killed. Yet, one billions muslims around the globe can't even muster their strength because we are so scared. Why are we scared well one of the reasons is that perhaps we want to live forever and do not want the meeting with Allah that is why that at the time of the sahabas muslims conqured land at a rate of 200 sq miles a day. They the friends of Allah were ready to meet him and die for his cause, Islam. From the young to the old, ready to defend the rights of people, yet today this ayat always buzzes in my mind: "And what is wrong with you that you fight not in the cause of Allah, and for those weak, ill treated and oppressed among men, and children, whose cry is: 'Our Lord! Rescue us from this town whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from you one who will protect, and raise for us from you one who will help" 4:75 O Allah make us strong, make our feet towards you strong and make our hearts filled with courage and determination, and may our lives be given in your cause, the best cause and may the meeting with you tomorrow be good. During the time of the crusades when the muslims had been massacred in Alquds by evangelicals and the news reached the centre of the khilaafa .. the chief qaadi rushed into the mosqu and started eating all the food before the time for opening fast The people were horrified and said what are you doing! he said the muslims women and children have been murdered and here you are concerned about food! Arab men have become to used to the good things in life |
