Hi everybody. My name is Maariya and I am a newcomer to this vibrant city. I have put some posts up and am just getting into the swing of things  :-*.

Mashaallah what a wonderful community. I have learnt soooo much and have also been inspired to research and increase my own knowledge.

Well, I am 23, living in London. Alhamdulilah, I come from a practising background so I have always been keen to learn and develop myself as a muslim.

I am coming to the end of my teacher training course (only few more weeks left!  :) ) I am one of those teachers by nature  ::) so it seemed like the obvious profession for me  ;D Unfortunately or fortunately ..whichever way you want to look at it, my subject is Science, but I will certainly try my hand at any knowledge i think will be beneficial to the madina community  ;)

Well I am far from the boffins I always thought of my teachers as  8)....I enjoy sports, especially Badminton and also take part in Aerobics at my local gym. I did a bit of Taekwondo at uni, but am far from an expert on it!!. I enjoy travelling. Even though I haven't been to many countries, I have been to the best place on earth...Mecca. I went on Umrah, in Ramadan 2000. It was an awesome experience.

Other things I like to do in my spare time are: keeping up to date with current affairs; shopping for clothes; giving tuition; eating out at restaurants; meeting friends and family; and of course coming onto the jannah website  ;)

Okay.....gotto go, most of my spare time at the moment is being spent job hunting :(  ..... chat to you all soon inshallah

Well, good news everybody.....I have found a job, Alhamdulilah. Well, even though I had fully prepared for it, I was very nervous on the day, esp. as they had asked me to teach a lesson and were going to make notes on my teaching strategy  :( . Well I taught and I felt that it all gone well. I was given a tour round the school by 3 pupils and then I went for my interview. Alhamdulilah they asked me all the right questions (well all those that I had prepared for) and looked as though they were impressed by the lesson that I had taught  ;D . I may have slipped up on one question though about the pastoral role(I really had no clue) but told them that it was an area of professional development that I was keen to learn about, and kinda talked my way out of it. I got a phonecall later that afternon telling me that I got the job  ;D  ;D  ;D  .....Alhamdulilah

I am training to teach the age range 11 - 18 . I live in England, and according to our system children move up each year until the age of 16 regardless of whether they have passed or not. Those that have done well will go on to further education. I teach Biology and Chemistry to these kids.

Even though I enjoy teaching, kids can be a bit of a handful, so I am looking forward to the summer holidays  8). I am coming to the end of my teacher training at Kings College and really wanna go on holiday somewhere nice, to relax; reflect; absorb some culture   []. Any suggestions?

Alhamdulillah, it is awesome that you got the job!  You know, I am considering going into the field of urban planning and development but I recently discovered that I love being around kids.  They are the coolest!  Plus, my mother is a teacher...maybe it is in our blood....

As for vacations spots.....hmm, I've never been myself but many people tell me Morocco is one of the coolest places to visit.
