| [slm] Explorer, give us some info on the Military of India and Pakistan which may interest us. I heard today on the news that india has 60 Nukes, and Pakistan 24. Also, they said Pakistan had 500'000 solderis, and India 1'million. I thought Pakistan also had a milion? Also, pakistan has over 300 fighter planes, as opposed to india's 700. So what kinds of planes have they got? Are they the old crappy russian Mirages or have they upgraded? Also do the Paks still use sidewinder missiles? And do the Paks still import all their planes? I hear russia and india signed an agreement to allow india to build russian planes in India, has pakistan done anything similar? |

| [slm] lets see... ;D ;D ;D India dosn't have the sharia and thus dosn't have god on it's side Pakistan dosn't have sharia and thus dosn't have god on it's side India is composed largely of non-muslims so it has Amrika, Israel and Russia on it's side Pakistan is composed largely of Muslims and so it dosn't have anyone on its side who do YOU think is going to win ?! |

| [slm] hhmmm.....Pakistan has approx 500-600,000 active soldiers with around 500,000 reserves. India has 1million active troops and 500,000 reserves, but can't use them all against pakistan because they need deterence against China. In the past it was claimed Pakistan could bring over 10,000 or more mujahideen from Afghanistan who would easily tear the indians apart in the mountainous terrain of Kashmir, but things now have obviously changed. Now Pakistan can only rely on themselves, not even the arabs. All this pan-islamic brotherhood talk is just that, talk. Arab armies are not well trained and western observers call them a joke and too lazy. A lot of their equipment is operated by western personell. If they can't do anything for Palestine on their doorstep, then forget them helping Pakistan. Only the Saudis or UAE will help Pakistan financially and maybe with some active support coming in the form of older aircraft. Egypt has a well armed and trained military but they're stooges of the US. The most reliable friend is China. Pakistans air force has the following:- 32 F16s multirole fighters - the F16 needs no introduction :) 150 Mirage III/V fighter bombers (French built of which 50 are highly upgraded for strike) 150 F-7 interceptors (chinese built Mig21s but with improvements and potent in close combat) 40 A-5 attack aircraft (chinese built, but old) Yeah they all carry the US Sidewinder missiles with the F16 and some Mirages carrying the more advanced L-version of the Sidewinder. They also have the French built 'Magic II' air-air missile and some Chinese copies. These are all short range - 15km max. India's air force has the following:- 18 Su30s interceptors (very potent) 70 Mig29s interceptors (potent) 180 Mig27s attack aircraft (potent) 90 Mig23s air defence/attack (good) 200+ Mig21 multirole (good, but old) 40 Mirage 2000 multirole fighters (very potent) 100 Jaguars attack aircraft (potent) On paper the Indian air force is far superior to Pakistan's but this is due mostly to sanctions(US) and financial reasons(French charging too high). Its Russian built fighters are potent and carry long range missiles, which Pakistan doesn't have. It is very offensive meaning it will have to fight its battles in pakistans airspace where the pakistan air force has advantage of radar coverage and more aircraft. But add to that the quality of aircraft and weapons and tactics involved the whole thing gets very complex and not worth going into unless you're a die hard military enthusiast :) Its because of this even the West says the whole conflict is very messy. The US practically raped pakistan in daylight by sanctioning the F16s Pakistan had paid for. Instead Pakistan has tried to offset this disadvantage by building up its surface-air missile and gun air defences. They have a whole load of shoulder fired(but short range) SAMs from America (Stingers), France, Sweden and China. Most experts give Pakistani pilots the edge in skill because their philosophy is based primarily on air defence and not as offensive as the indians. The indians have an awful attrition record. In a one-one dogfight with equal aircraft a pakistani pilot will rip an indian pilot to shreds ;D The PAF has carried out excercies with the US navy, going head-head against their fighters and carried out mass raids against their aircraft carrier battle groups - all good experience. Nukes is a tricky issue. No one knows for sure what the real numbers or sizes are. I think most of them are low yield sub-kiloton warheads aimed for armoured columns, airbases etc with a few larger warheads reserved for the worst case scenario - 'city busting'. |

| [slm] Jazaakullah for the info bro, so do you reckon the Paks will be able to beat the indians? I've been reading that the indian solderis aint that good. Did you know that in the 1965 war, Pakistan fought and got all the way to Delhi. My father, in Gujarat was praying Pakistan would keep coming and take over the country, and liberate the muslims!! Sadly, the USA got involved and threatened Pakistan if they didnt pull back. But they came so close. Maybe one day they'll push again! Another thing bro, do you know of any good books about military equipment? Not all the nitty gritty stuff, just the basic outlines of the weapons etc, with loads of colour photo's? What about books about pakistan's military? |

Pakistan is a country where millions of Muslims live, a large percentage of whom practice, pray and make du'a to Allah. Just because the few people in the government don't apply shari'a doesn't mean Allah's against the whole country? Having or not having shari'a doesn't guarantee Allah's on your side or not. Allah says in the Qur'an that it's His obligation (haqq) to give victory to the Mumineen. |

You'll be asleep before you finish the first page!! I wanna see pictures of the weapons, the tanks, the planes, the rockets, missiles, the camps, the solderis, the armoured vechiles and with some detailed descriptions, but not "anorak" style info!! So Eleanor, being a former commander of the Mujaahideen yourself, could you point me in the direction of some good books? Pr maybe in the direction of OBL himself ;D |

| assalm u alaikum dearest brothers of islam i hv just joined th board today and was seeing the discussions i just wanna point u 1 thing about the would b nuke war between india and pakistan (god forbid),if the war is started u kno how many innocent lifes will b lost and there will b massive destruction on both sides for which both th countries may not recover for ages . its lot easy to put in jokes sitting in the drawing rooms but just think of the hard realities and the counter effects of the would b nuke war request fr a dua fr my muslim brethren fr the peaceful settlement of this crisis which will end the uncertainities and bring in peace in the sub continent of the once united india and pakistan jazakallahu khair |
