WWTBAM1423: Question 6 & Answers

(our internet is broken so be patient about the scores lifelines and all that)

Abdul Rahmaan Ibn Awf related once that rasulullah [saw] went out and that he (Abdul Rahman) followed him until he [saw] came to a grove of palm trees and made sujood. His prostration was so long that Abdul Rahman was afraid that Allah had taken his soul.  Abdul Rahman came to look at him and he [saw] raised his head and said: "What is wrong, Abdul Rahman'?"

Abdul Rahman mentioned what had happened, and the prophet [saw] said: "Jibraeel [alayhis-salaam] came to me and said: 'Shall I not give you glad tidings? Allah says to you, whoever prays upon you, I pray upon him, whoever salutes you, I salute him.' Therefore, I prostrated to Allah in thanks."

Q: Where will one find the exact location of this event today? Be specific.

Assalaaaaaaaam Alaikum sisters and brothers, madina audience members, lurkers (or using the politically correct term) viewers of the madina board and participants yet member-challenged. Ahlan Ahlan...

well wow i honestly did not think this question was that difficult. everyone knows the saudi's have turned every significant place of the prophet  [saw] into a masjid or raized it to the ground so no one can commit any shirk. So all you had to do is find a list of the masjid's in madina and why they were special. well amazing some ppl even used 3 lifelines at this 1 question... well that must mean you're confident about q7 huh ;)

arright then... we're down to 13 perfect scores, 3 with no use of lifelines!!! ma'shallah...

have a bebzi [] on me!!

on to THE FINALE...........

As salaamu alaikum,

The location of the Prophet's <http://www.jannah.org/board/images/saw.gif> elongated prostration is Abu Dthar Masjid.  This masjid is located 900 meters (or 2952.76 feet or 35433.12 inches) north of the Prophet's Masjid   <http://www.jannah.org/board/images/saw.gif> .  Is that specific enough?   <http://www.jannah.org/board/images/grin.gif>
This is also the intersection of Abu Dthar Street and Airport Road in Madina, Saudi Arabia.

Answer to Question 6:

The exact location of this event today is Abu Dthar Mosque (Al-Sajaadah ? The Prostration) which is at the intersection of Abu Dthar Street and Airport Road, 900 metres north of the Prophet?s Mosque.

Here is the story from http://www.al-madinah.org/engl/index1.htm

Abu Dthar Mosque (Al-Sajaadah ? The Prostration)

This mosque is located at the intersection of Abu Dthar Street and Airport Road, 900 metres north of the Prophet?s Mosque. It has been reported that the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) prayed in it and lengthened one of his prostrations to such an extent that ?Abdur Rahman bin Aouf, who had been with him, thought that he was dead. When the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him) rose, he said to ?Abdur Rahman, ?Indeed Jibreel informed me that he who prays for me, Allah prays for him.?

That was really hard.  I had to resort to Arabic search engines after getting one clue in an English one.
The place (actually, it is not for sure according to what I read) is a masjid named masjid as-sajdah, otherwise known as masjid Abi Thar Al-GHaffaari in Al-Medinah Al-Munawwarah.
References:
Masjid Sajadah / Masjid Al-Buhayr
It is between Bustan Buhayri and Bastin Sadaqah. The Prophet Muhammad  had offered two rakaat here and observed a long prostration.

Can I use my 'poll the audience' for this one inshallah.

my research so far on this one has thrown up 3 varieties of this hadith putting rassollulah(saws) in 3 different places!!! <http://www.jannah.org/board/images/shocked.gif>
- the palm groves
- mosque
- the place where sadaqah was kept

btw i hope it was decided not to penalise for using lifelines <http://www.jannah.org/board/images/cry.gif> !!!

jazakallah,

Here is Asim's answer:

I believe today the location of this event is the Jannatul Baqi cemetery in Madeenah, a short distance from the Prophet's (salallaahu alayhi wa sallam) masjid. At the time of the Prophet this location was a palm grove called al-Baqi.

Completely off topic, but this site [url]http://www.al-madinah.org[/url] is unbelievable!!!!!!!Big time details on the history Masjid al-Nabawi, including lots and lots of stuff on the significance of everything in it! And on top of that it has loads of stuff on just about everything else in Madinah! This has been the internet site some of us have been looking for our entire life... ;)

Those with PHD or MD beware! Viewing this site will worsen your symptoms!  :)

Alas, after visiting this site, with unbridled optimism and hope I typed in http://www.makkah.org and there was nothing... :'(
