Peace be upon you,

Welcome to Madinat Al-Muslimeen, the City of the Muslims. Please feel free
to visit the different hot spots around the Madina and post any discussion,
articles, suggestions, comments, art, poetry, events, recipes, etc etc.
Basically anything you would like to share with your sisters and brothers!!
Non-muslims are also of course quite welcome to share their comments.

If this is your first time here, you need to register with the city council.
Once you register you will be sent an email and upgraded to a Madina
Citizen, Insha Allah. Please note that our city does have regulations which
are listed in the City Constitution. Read them before moving in!

and welcome to the final episode of WHO WANTS TO BE A MU'MIN 1423 !!!!!!!!!
Brothers and Sisters,

it's been a long journey.. fraught with hair pin curves, frazzled hair-dos (and hijabs) and
many frustration filled hours of sipping bebzi while pounding the keyboard on google yelling
"it's gotta be on the internet! how can it not be on the internet!?!"..

Alhamdulillah we made it to the end. The last question was Regis's personal favorite.
Mashallah the answers were all correct. Most people asked for an Ask a Friend and since they
were all correct, they too received a for Q7.

As we wait with baited breath for PriceWaterBayt and Caliphs to audit our answers, let us
take this time to thank all the contestants and the audience as well. Inshallah we all
learned something together.

taalibatul_ilm, you really deserved it, It wasn't easy with all the tricky questions!

Regis, jazakallah khayran for another great WWTBAM. I really learned a lot. Man, there is so
much to learn, it is scary! One think that this WWTBAM motivated me into was Islamic
history. I wasn't much into Islamic history but alhamdulillah the questions have now piqued
my interest in this area.

Hahaha, this is true! If it weren't for the internet, the questions would have
been really *really* hard. I wonder what other search engines people used
in addition to google. Google is good but sometimes a good variety is
needed to ferret out the answer.

I used Google almost exclusively for questions 4-7. I did get a lesson in "how many ways to
spell Salahuddin" and found I had to be creative in the words I used in the search engine,
and tried many combinations. I also did a lot of dua'.
I would like to know what the others used too, especially the no lifeline three.

I think I, abu_hamza, imran, maliha are runners up, and not the winners, is that correct?

I did my complete searching for WWTBAM on google. It's a little tricky, you should not type the
complete question for search. Read the question select few words you think that stands out and
are supossed to be in answer then search, you get a bunch of results. Many a time on first
search you'll get unrelated answers. Refine your search by mentioning the words to omit from
your results preceded by '-' character, use other words from the question or include synonymns
for the words in question and search. I found all my answers in this way. Sometimes questions
like Q6 needs a little different approach. I tried the first approach, didn't find any meaningful
answers, then I assumed if this place is of some importance it should be listed somewhere as a
point of interest in Makkah Mukarrama/Madina Munawwarah. So I instead searched for points of
interest in these places. I used this technique partially for identifying Masjid Quba too.
All in all it was a very good experiance Masha Allah. It really increased my limited knowledge of
Islamic history. I thank everyone especially jannah for this wonderful contest. May Allah give us
taufiq and hidaya to increase our imaan, deen and his understanding.
One question when do I get promoted to mumin from newbie for winning (or sharing the honours
in first place ) the contest?

I thought about posting the official MNN recap of the 1423 edition of WWTBAM but then
thought better of it

What an amazing end to Madina Madness this year! 7 winners! Last year there were only
two, and this year the number increases almost four-fold! Inshallah this is a sign that we as
a community are on the whole increasing in our knowledge. May Allah SubHana Wa Ta`ala
increase us all in knowledge for the sake of glorifying Him.

It was quite a surprise though to see some of the favorites come up short this year. I must
commend my brother BrKhalid for his valiant attempt this year to compete, despite his
crippling PHD. In the end the stress was perhaps too great for our beloved , but you were
an inspiration bro. Seeing you do so well makes me begin to see that yes, perhaps there is
life after Hajj.

Salik, It will come some day. It might take a year, maybe even longer. But
one day it will come inshallah. Some previous winners are still waiting, so
just continue to make dua and inshallah it will come to fruition.

our brother Abu Hamza, the now two-time defending champion!!! Truly a
remarkable achievement that may never be repeated!

hmmm....i came in here to register a polite request for the immediate mu'minization of all
the winners.

i see some others have come for the same reason. i think they should all get TEN stars
by their names, at least until the next game begins. (then they can go down to one-star
mu'mins.... hee hee..or to whatever number of stars they'd usually have....) they're really
special people here, with impressive knowledge (or google-ing skill?? i'm not sure how much
that counts for.......hmmmm, but without that skill, i guess they wouldn't have benefitted
from their answer -seeking.....nor would we have.)
