I was wondering if it was possible to have the prayer times for your area be in a little box on the jannah.org webpage? i come here so often, and somtimes i'll forget to print out the times to have w/ me, or for whatever reason i need the prayer times.  i noticed that soundvision has a very simple and nice one on their homepage, any possibilities we could have that here too?  Just a thought  :-*

[wlm] bhaloo that's a great resource.. i love islamicfinder.org i always go there and pop in my zipcode to get the prayer times...  but that's like a form that you have to put in your location and then it gives it to you.. i think something that is a stand alone cgi script that calculates the times based upon a stored zip in a cookie and displays the times automatically everytime would be perfect instead of the form.. cause for the form you could just go to that website and get the info right there....but to have it display the prayer times for u in the corner would be awesome... prayertimes is such a great program mashallah... it calculates all the prayer times.. plays the athan for you and tells you when the next prayer is and how long you have till then. it would be great if someone could build something like that for online... or even something like that as freeware so it could spread, i know so many people would benefit from it..

I was just wondering what do you do if for example you have a calendar at home telling you the prayer times and then you go online to check and it's different by maybe up to 15-20 minutes... Do you take the average, or do you try to judge by the daylight - and what if it's cloudy???

I would go to the calendar and see where it was produced. It may have been written for an area other than yours. The sites arshad posted are much more accurate.

I have lived in two different communities where the printed calendar that was given out was wrong, not for the area it was intended for- but for the city I was living in. I used to mention it- but to no avail.  Surprise surprise- last year they noticed!

Using the sun is always the best way! Living in my city- it is tough- we are always cloudy!

Those adthan clocks are wonderful! Have they made one that adjusts automatically?

eleanor, just to be safe, i would assume that the correct time for the prayer is the later one.

well that's okay for four of them, but doesn't maghrib have to be said on time???

(sorry for diverting the main topic - I think a prayer time on jannah would be an excellent idea :) )+

For some reason I got the impression that you were talking about the daytime prayers - dhuhr and/or asr.  For maghrib, what you can do is look for the time of the local sunset.  Usually they even show that in the weather forecast.  Or you can probably try to look it up on one of the local weather web sites.  The maghrib time begins right after sunset.

I would really like to give a shot at this one. Before I could start I have some problems. The original program ITimer by Waleed Muhanna is no longer distributed because the author has some reservation about people repackaging his code. I still have his old code, but before we could use it I need his permission. Second I need a Xref of Zipcode to geographical location in lattitudes and longitudes. If someone can point me where I can find this it will be very helpful.
