Yesterday while flipping the channels between the lakers-kings game, i pounced upon 'the education of max bickford', and it was quite an interesting episode (even though i watched it for a short while)

The story was about a college going Muslim girl Yasmeen, who had to encounter a hate message left at her dorm by someone, "Go back Muslim B***.....". She told the whole class about it and read from the note left at her door. trust me that classroom scene was something...!!!!

In another scene, her cousins visiting the campus were taken off the campus by security for lack of identity. The professor came to her rescue but she couldn't help her cousins as well. and i did not see all what followed after that, but to see a hijabi girl on a cbs show was quite interesting. The class environment, professor, hijab is exactly what we, muslim students encounter everyday on our campuses.

The little time i spent in viewing the episode, i think it warrants a 'thank you' letter to the producers for depicting the harrasment against Muslims existing on campuses.

anyone else who watched the show..?? What happened after that??

I too was flipping thru- looking for something- and caught the last 20 minutes.

The teacher defended the Muslimah , yet the harsh girl was still not relieved of her anger. I did not see the first part so I had no idea what happened.

So the teacher gave an assignment. They had to defend the other person's point of view. Of course- the Muslimah had to relate how she felt Americans felt about her and Muslims... blah blah blah. I figure since the teacher defended the Muslim- the harsh girl never really said how Muslims feel about Americans.

That was it. The very last scene was an American girl doing part of the adthan- Allah who Akbar and the Kalima in a very "moving- deeply spiritual singing way. The camera pulled back as her arms were out stretched and her eyes looking upward. It was eery.

Salaams,
CBS does alot of that.  They had a Jagg episode that dealt with islam.  And one of the main characters grandmothers was muslim, and she was talking about shariah courts and stuff.  It seems islam is "En Vogue" for good and bad reasons.
