Assalamu alaikum,
Jazakum Allah khair for turning the news line into a hadeeth line.  It's so much more beautiful :)  And beneficial too.  Ma sha Allah it's a great idea and a wonderful choice of hadeeths as well.

sis jannah,

i really really like having those hadiths on the madina news line.  i think the category you have now is one that could have a lot of impact on non-muslims coming here to read AND on "visiting" muslims trying to get a feel for this place.  (i'd say keep it a permanent category, but i'm sure there is an unlimited supply of other wisdom you might be looking forward to getting to....)  i think it tells a lot about what's going on here and who the people participating are or try to be, especially when people first come here and haven't figured out their way around yet.

(a little side comment i have is that i appreciate that you move things to the best category for them to be in.  i usually find things wherever they are, because i try to read every new post, but that isn't always practical.  i think this helps people who are new here, too, so they don't miss a big discussion going on in a "funny' category - which happens, sometimes.  but maybe when something is posted that has been up before, instead of removing it you could link to the older thread, especially if it's been a while since the original was put up.)

Thanx mwishka for the feedback... About the removing things that have already been posted... Believe me sometimes I think the board is circular and we just sift through certain topics then a year later the same topics come up again !! There are some posts like chain emails that keep coming up again and again... ie that lebanese ambassador one and the professors logic to the student one and the sheikh slapping one... if they are recurring like these we usually remove them... but if someone posts a topic or question that is similar to one discussed before it usually doesn't get deleted, but someone usually brings it up and posts the link the previous discussion on it.. b/c for the poster it may be new and for new members it may be new.. but thanks for the reminder there may be alot of stuff that is ad nauseum for us but new for others...

I was just mulling something over and hope you don't mind me saying this, but sometimes a "one-liner" can be of far more significance than an ENTIRE lengthy post.

Then i got to thinking somemore (grab your hard hats here..it get's dangerous! hehehe)...what if we had the ability to choose whether we want our posts / comments to self-destruct.

Say, we post something which we know is not going to have a significant impact on anyone's life in particular, but it needs to be aired for the moment nontheless.  Now in a case like that, we could post / reply etc and the posts will have anything from a one week to a 3 month life span.

This self-destruct posts will alleviate the burden of tracking and killing threads or replies of "no import"

Awrighty-O....my saying-so has been said.  :)  So what do you think then?

not that you have a lot of, um, free time on your hands right now, but can we get more succinct wisdom on the news lines again??

(i miss reading them!  when the virtues were up, it didn't matter how many times i'd seen them, every new time was a reminder, and appreciated....)
