[/quote] and thought to yourself WOW :o I wish I could be cool like se7en and know how to do that? 8) Now, I'll show you how in two easy steps ;D [glow=red,2,300]1. Search the old threads.[/glow] I'm sure you all have experience with the search feature on the old board, and know that it is.. umm.. lacking :) What works though, is to search for a *unique word* that can be found in the discussion that you're looking for, that won't be found in any others. For example, if you're looking for that old discussion we had on Eid gifts, you shouldn't search "eid" or "gifts" (you'll get tons of responses!) Instead.. a good search word would be "Lindt" :) The trick is to remember a unique word like that from the discussion in order to get the search engine to work for you. Also, the "search all forums" option does not work, so you need to search by individual forum. Keep in mind that some discussions were re-named and moved to the ark, and that some discussions took place in weird places, so it might be a good idea to search more than one forum for what you're looking for. [glow=red,2,300]2. Link it[/glow] There are two ways to link on the message board. The first way is to just type out the address. (http://www.jannah.org, www.yahoo.com, etc) The second way to link is often times referred to as "the se7en style link", or for short "the []". This type of link uses the tags [ u r l = ] and [ / u r l ] (without the spaces.) The address of the link goes immediately after the equal sign, and the words you want to use to represent the link ("here" or "whatever the link is named") go in between the two tags. For example: [ u r l = http://www.jannah.org ] here [ / u r l ] becomes [url=http://www.jannah.org]here[/url] This type is useful if you want to bring up a link in the middle of a sentence, or if an address is very long. And there you have it.. two easy steps that'll change you from ??? to :-[ in just seconds! | um, 7, i mean um, sis se7en (oh that's torture hee heeee...they almost won't even let me type those letters in......rebellious little fingers...) anyway, i think i should confess to being "too busy" to be cool like you.. :D honestly, i think maybe there're a BUNCH of us here, who, um, kind of just like it when we don't have to go look for things.... :(....and...hee heee...we, um kind of just take advantage of you doing it for us... PROBABLY we should be called "lazy", in comparison to YOU, of course ;), instead of busy... but thanks for clearing up that thing about searching the old madina. i just gave up on it, thought it didn't work at all because it never ended its searches, and, of course, i didn't even know the fora (eeeekkk!, but it's accurate....) well enough to know where to look for anything i might have seen in the past... and, um couldn't you put a link there to come straight back here? (oh yeah, and when you're done taking care of everybody here ;) , maybe you could go fix the link to the madina at window on islam -- it only goes to the old madina...) mwishka :) |

Take it easy Hanif[/quote] Last time I checked on Apple's Darwin site they were giving away thier streaming media server for free. I had a little difficulty installing and setting it up, but once up it worked fine. as long as you used quicktime player/plugin. Now where can one find the live feed from Madina and Makkah? |
