| ok, here's a simpleton question, maybe: who....can...tell....me....why.....my....madina.....mail......is.....VERY......hard......to......get......to.....download......into......my.......inbox......so........i......can........read........it........?? today i haven't been able to get it to open at all. :'( every time i try to read it, it's a funky back and forward thing until one time, randomly, ta daaa! it's finally there. am.....i.......doing......something.......wrong?? m....w.....i.....s....h.....k.......a |

| hmm? are you clicking on where it says You have 2 messages. you should be able to read the messages you have there and reply back to them... |

| yep. that's what i do. all i get is the index of listings, ending in a plain blank empty bottom of the screen where the messages should be. it's always been that way - it's very hard to get them to "come in". today nothing will work... oh, and i "see" them supposedly download at the bottom of the screen, but they're just not there...... :( |

| ok. yep, i'll just keep trying my usual tricks then -- these are the things i have to go through every time i want to read it. you mean this doesn't happen to everyone? and there's no way around it or to make it work right?? :( |

| [slm], Your mail might not be opened maybe due to your browser settings. Have you tried from a public terminal where they have Win(x) ? Dosen't Mozilla have the option to fool a website or server to think they are serving an Intrernet Explorer browser. And I think you must have an option to save cookies...otherwise it might not work. | bro hanif, i never use any computer but my own....hmmm...guess that sounds funny. it's portable - i carry it to my lab, use it there, carry it home, use it here. guess i COULD try some other computer... i've failed to make the transition to mozilla - against my computer consultant's advice. but yep, mozilla can pretend to be explorer... ok, could try that. cookies - so you know my paranoid tendencies, eh? of course i don't allow automatic cookies!!! :D i allow this board to have its two to log in and two to log out and two for the vocabulary words. but there are no cookies connected to madina mail specifically that i can tell. in general, i allow only cookies that are set to last within one year - over one year and i cancel them. amazing how many are set to last until 2037, it's astounding, especially considering...what will the technology be in 2037?? why would we think those cookies would be around then - much less whether or not they SHOULD be. some informational sites have nasty long life cookies that they won't let you cancel- including some islamic sites, so if i need the information bad enough i let them go through. and amazing how MANY, sometimes 7 to 9, some sites have to ask one simple question. i also cancel excessive cookies and cookies with no date.... hee heee anti-cookie mwishka |

| [slm] I too was going to ask if you always use the same computer... My computer at home is very slow and takes longer for the mail to open. A tip is to keep the messages down to the bare minimum, then the computer can handle it better. At the old board I had like over 80 at one stage, until I copped on and deleted them all. I have noticed on the DSL work connection the board is waay faster, so you really will have to try it on another computer to see what's up. wasalaam eleanor |
