| [slm] Israeli government to award soldiers medals for committing war crimes in Jenin Occupied Jerusalem - The Israeli government has decided to award twelve Israeli soldiers who took part in the Jenin massacre more than two months ago special medals for valor and exemplary soldiery. Israeli sources said the men, who include, a number of high-ranking officers, carried out distinguished acts at the Jenin camp. Israeli soldiers killed an unknown number of Palestinian civilians, including many women and children, as well as wheelchair-bound men, during the Israeli army onslaught at the camp. Moreover, Israeli tanks and bulldozers reduced to rubble hundreds of homes, prompting UN officials to describe the massacre as "horrific beyond belief." Israel refused to allow a United Nations' mission to visit Jenin to investigate the massacre, fearing that such a commission would eventually recommend the prosecuting of Israeli leaders and soldiers as war criminals in an international court.
