RSS and Likud have similar approach, says US intellectual Khaleejtimes.com By Syed Qamar Hasan A US intellectual and a critic of religious extremism has bracketed India's right wing Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh (RSS) organisation with Israel's Likud Party as having identical approaches in dealing with issues in conflict with their ideologies. Dr John L. Esposito, Director for Muslim Understanding, Georgetown University who was recently in Abu Dhabi at the invitation of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies to deliver a lecture on 'Future relations of Islam and the West', told Khaleej Times, that he found a similarity between thepolicies of the RSS, its sibling BJP and the Likud party. "Somehow these two radical outfits seem to have similar approach to issues they are facing," he explained. Dr Esposito, author of several books on contemporary religion and a consultant to the US State Department said, the US was more tilted towards India over the Kashmir issue. "The Americans have only national interests. It suits their national interest to support India, which is a very big market," he noted. He said the Indian lobby in the US was very influential cultivating Senators - Republicans as well as Democracts, rallying their political support to India's favour, which was not the case with the Pakistani community. On the home front, he pointed out that the neo-conservatives and the Christian Right group shared a common pro-Israel political agenda of going after the enemies of the Jewish state on the pretext of fighting terrorism. He said, there was a resurgence of the Christian Right in the US administration. "The Attorney General, John Ashcroft and President Bush himself, belonged to the Christian Right," he explained. |

yeah, um this is not surprising since mossad spends time in india training the indian army - i'd assume that they'd do as the CIA would do wherever it went, too, which is to train also the institutions which will most support those it puts in place in "wherever-land". i thought i put up an article about that here, but can't find it listed and can't even find it anywhere in my "storage" either....hmmm guess i lost it. mwishka |
