salam alaykum sisters
can anyone please give me some good advice on how to loose weight on my thighs? i have
major celulite problem, and i also would like to loose wieght on my bum.
i know that this may be a typical question asked, but im desperate.
so plz help me out

im sure you've heard this over and over again: eat less adn excersice!!!!

im a diabetic so i was assigned a nutritionist for awhile, no tto lose weight but health issues, but she told me some good stuff...

no fried foods, red meat,
always good: fat free things, like yogurt especially.

excersize: any type of excersize you do for one part of your body, you will find that the rest of your body is being effected also,

for example, if u wanna lose ur tummy, u do sit ups, people think they will only start to shrink in their stomach but thats not true, your whole body starts to lose weight all over :)

Nouha is very right bout less eating and more exercise :) Have you tried getting advice from doctor/nutrionist? I tried with a doctor and alhamdulillah I gave away 28 pounds in 3 months and that was a personal record for me ;D As a result, I lost inches from all over too. How bout using slimming or celulite cream on the areas you wished to reduce? They may be a good help too.

This is the exercise my doctor taught for the thighs. Lie down sideway and balance the body with one arm. Lift one leg on the air and then come down to the other leg (my doc said its like using a scissor :D). Make sure both leg dont meet closely cause you tend to relax more. Leave some gap between both legs everytime they meet. Repeat moving one leg up and down for few minutes. Later change to another sideway and repeat same movement.

If you are serious about losing 20 - 50 lbs, then you should try the atkins diet... it really works... BUT... its EXTREMELY difficult the first 2 weeks.

If you are trying to focus on your thighs...try cardio kick boxing tapes...that's the best thing to do.

as for nutrition, cut back on "white carbohydrates"... empty calories.

Drink diet soda, change from white to wheat bread... NO CHOCOLATE OR ICE CREAM... and be strict about maintaining it.

This along w/ cardio vascular exercise... like cardio kickboxing, will do wonders.  You can do cardiokickboxing in ur own house w/ those videos.  No equipment is required.  You gotta get physched about it though.

The key is motivation.

I would really advise against this diet! In one of our Renal lectures, the doctor told us this story about how one of his patients on dialysis was a physician who wanted to do the Atkins diet to lose weight and ended up in kidney failure!  There are a lot of people out there who have lost weight w/ the diet, but you end up eating all these foods that are really bad for your heart, so in the long run, i don't see how this can be healthy for you!  

Just stick w/ eating balanced meals: a little breakfast, a good lunch, and a not so heavy dinner, preferably several hours before you go to sleep. Not eating past like 7pm if you go to bed at 11pm was the one thing that Oprah did this past year, and she lost a lot of weight from that!  Cut out all nonessential calories, instead of diet soda, don't drink any soda at all. and those fruit juice boxes are empty calories too, they're each at least 100 calories. Drink water!

Incorporate a cardio workout w/ some kind of weight lifting workout too. Jumping rope is a really good one! and those thigh exercises that sunset talked about work well! If they start to get easy, put a sandbag on your leg to add resistance.

  I am not advising anyone to use it but I did Weight Watchers for a while and lost 10 pounds with it in like 2 months Alhamdulillah. And I 've kept it off. Their main thing is portion control. U shouldnt deprive urself of things u like to eat,just eat in smaller or low fat portions, like chocolate or icecream etc. Also, excercise is a big thing although i was too lazy to do a daily regimen  8) Try switching to low calorie bread, 2% milk, low fat cheese etc. See, if u not eat ur favourite food for a while, one day u will snap and just gobble on a whole tub of icecream or something. So eat everything in moderation. Hope this helps, sista. :-)

I am not quite sure if the creams really work for cellulite.  What you could try is a loofah pad.  Use it when you are in the shower to massage the effected area.  I think that cellulite is also effected by the foods that you eat. :P

With the leg lifts try and hold the lower leg a few inches from the ground while you are exercising.   :-X

really good advices from all the sisters. would love to try it out myself... :-X

But please do not try to take the easy way out to lose the extra pounds by taking slimming pills. Just had a case a few days ago of a lady who died due to liver failure which was caused by taking some slimming pills that turned out to have been altered and contained some kind of drugs ...   [wlm]

yep it was me asking in anon cos i was a neebie to the board and felt too embarassed you to use my identity,  but now i dont care so much who knows im alittle overwieght.
once again thanks for the advice, i will inshaallah be trying some of them out,

Assalaamu-alaikum

Loosing weight?

The first thing you should to is cut out the fat from your diet, dont cut down too much on the food, just the fatty foods.

Then start exercising, the best exercises for the Legs and ..."ehem"...you know..the...b...bu....bu....[glow=red,1,000]bottom (Kathy added)[/glow]well you know, and the easiest way for a sister to loose weight in those areas is running up and down stairs.

Dont believe me? Try it, run up and down the stairs 5 times, up, then down is counted as one, try it and see how tired you get. Also, if you have room in your house, by an exercise bike from Index or Argos. They are good for burning of fat without manking you work TOO hard.

Less fatty food, up and down stairs and 10 mins on a bike everyday and the fat will come off, inshallah.

Eat lots of fruits instead of like candy and sweet things ( that is if you have a sweet tooth).  I personally think walking and jogging is the best exercise along w/ situps and push-ups. Consistency is a key, inshaAllah after the first month you'll see the weight coming off.
