How do you do it? (to Jordan)

We don't belong to a bank, but a credit union (no riba)- so they can't do wire transfers.

Western Union charges an arm and a leg! it was $25 for $200! :'(

Personal checks aren't accepted.

If you don't do it- will you ask your parents?

We have had money transfered, not to Jordan though, but to Switzerland.  We used an intermediary (we sent a check, they moved the money) but they did it only for larger sums (we had just sold our place and wanted the money for a house here).  Let me try to dig up exactly who we went through.

hmm.. my answer won't help you much but you did ask...
we either use Western Union (if it has to be fast)
or wait till someone we know is going over and then give it to them to pass on. if it's someone not from the same town, we arrange for the recipients to meet them at the airport and get the money off them - a lot of trust involved, but generally the best way, and with all the friends/contacts my husband has, he generally *always* knows someone going over within the next month or so...
