SALAM ALKUM,

MY NAME IS AMIRA, I CONVERTED TO ISLAM 6 YEARS AGO. (ALHUMDILLAH)
UNFORTUNATLY I TURNED AWAY AFTER 2 YEARS AND ONLY RECENTLY HAVE I STARTTED TO FIND MY WAY BACK DOWN THE RIGHT PATH.

I AM NOW TRYING TO MEET OTHER MUSLIM SISTERS AND BECOME MORE INVOLVED IN MY COMMUNITY. I DID NOT DO THIS BEFORE AND THEREFORE WHEN THE NON ISLAMIC WORLD AROUND ME SET IN (FAMILY. PEERS) I DRIFTED FROM THE RIGHT PATH.

I KNOW NOW THAT MY IMAN IS MORE IMMPORTANT THEN WHT MY FAMILY CONSQENCES WILL BE. I AM PRAYING AND READING KORAN. I HAVE NOT STARTED WEARING HAJAB YET.

I WOULD LOVE TO HERE FROM OTHER SISTERS WHO MAY BE ABLE TO SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES. INSHALLAH

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO THANK JANNAH.ORG FOR HAVING THIS WEB SITE. I JUST HAPPENED UPON IT YESTERDAY. AND ALHUMDILLAH I HAVE ALREADY BEEN ABLE TO FIND OUT ANSWERS TO Q I DID NOT KNOW. THANK U JANNAH.ORG

INSHALLAH ALLAH BE WITH U ALL

YOUR SISTER,
AMIRA

[slm] sister

I read your thread, and thought that i'll welcome you . Alhumdullilah Allah opend your heart, and chose you not to be one of those who disbelieve.
That is one thing you should aalways remember that Allah (SWT) saved you .

Its good that you are reading quran, the very recitation of it really softens the heart. Isee you said that you don't wear hijaab, well sister everything takes time. I was born muslim, but never really practised. I prayed and fasted, etc but never really understood what Islam really meant. But Alhumdullilah, i am much wiser now, and pray to allh to forgive me for my ignorant days.

The hard thing was to wear Hijaab. Now i look back and wonder why it was so hard. Just forget about what people say, everything in this world that is precious is covered. A pearl is worth thousands because it is covered by a shell. Gold is worth so much because it is covered underground and hard to get to. we women are worth much more than any pearl, and hence being covered shows that we are speacial.

Sister islam is not a religion that you practise on ust a sunday, islam is a way of life that teaches you how to eat how to clean yourself how to walk even, thats why reverts are inclined towards islam than any other religion.

well thats my advice, i'm not a very fast typer so pardon me for any mistakes

[slm] Amira :)

I too am a revert to Islam, although not so long as you. I too am struggling with the changes Islam has caused to my life, and I too have not yet started to wear hijab. I haven't yet confronted my family with my decision to convert, but Insha Allah they will be okay with it.
Welcome to the board :) It's lovely to have you here with us:)
Just a small request - could you type your posts in small letters? It's easier to read when it's typed small :) And I for one am looking forward to reading more of your posts  :-X

Take care, Insha Allah

I too was born Muslim, but never really "got it".  Being a very social person, I find it hard to stay on the right path when everyone I hang out with is non-muslim, which is my case right now.

I think that reading the Qur'an everyday and praying regularly helps me a lot.

I also find this site to be inspirational and I'm hoping that it will help me maintain a support network of muslims through my journey of renewing and maintaining my faith.  I don't wear hijab right now either.  Baby steps :)

Sis Amira,  Like many of the sisters have mentioned, I am a revert who has had this experience as well.  I stopped practicing my Islam for a year after my grandfather died, but alhamdulillah I found my way back with Allah's guidance.  It is so easy to forget about Islam when you do not have Muslims around you.  My first advice is to find a masjid and start going, even just for jummah on Friday.  The more you go, the more you will get to know the sisters.  Inshallah there will be sisters for you as they were for me when I moved out here.  My other advise is to stick with jannah.org-believe me, the members of the board here will be there for you through everything....that's a personal guaruntee-I have benefitted greatly from their support in the past 3years.  You can message me anytime as well.

[slm] I was muslim for about a year and started to drift because i was hanging with the wrong crowd and my fiance wasn't practicing as he should have been. Alhamdulilalh I was called back to my deen, and I realized after having the sweetness of islam, the bitterness of jahiliyyah would never compare. What i remember most is that on Yaum Al Qiyamma I will face Allah SWT on my own, and will have no one to blame but myself for my actions. And I keep in mind the Hadith of Rasool  [saw] "Show me who your friends are and I will show you who you are." Or sometihng to that tune. Always know that if you need someone to talk to I will listen and do my best to give sincere and helpful advice inshallah.  :-* Keep praying and reading the qur'an, and keep your heart full of love for Allah SWT. Inshallah we can all continue to increase our iman.
