| [color=Green][/color]I have checked out madinah message boards a few times and finally registered. Inshallah I can learn alot, share what I've learned so far and create close and strong bonds with everyone. :-* I'll introduce myself. I was born and raised in NC USA and was never brought up in any religion. I was somewhat exposed to Christianity but never accepted it. Up til about age 12 I didn't think about God or religion. Then I started thinking of it rather cynically. "Religion is for the weak, who need something Higher than themselves to feel valid" then with time I started realizing I belonged to that exact category. :-[I explored buddhism and Hinduism and then when I moved to CA i met some muslims in high school. I then met this non practicing brother, and we started dating and got to know eachother. I saw his parents praying one day and asked about it. 6 months later i became muslim and he proposed. His parents were very old school traditional Arabs ( Pali refugees) and were 100% agianst the marraige. :'( we tried to convince them even went to 2 sheikhs but finally Allah SWT gave me the strength to move on and do better for myself Alhamdulillah then in January I met an Indonesian brother, in february we were married. His parents love me and accept me. Right now I'm planning on getting a certificate in american sign language Inshallah. Looking forward to hearing your replies. Your sis in islam Emily |
