| well, i went down and gave an interview about our deportation to a reporter at the troy paper today. he was very nice, and i think he got kind of freaked out and a little overwhelmed by the story, and.....i was being typical mwishka, so he got the loooooooooooooong version. ;) he said it will most likely be in tomorrow's paper. albany (times-union), now that's another story. they were kind of interested, not terribly, of course, until i told them the story had been on CNN and al-jazeera and in papers all over the US. the editor i spoke to asked a number of questions, including if there were any jews in our group. i told him i wasn't sure (i think not, but don't know for certain if anyone was a converted jew), but asked if he was asking that because he thought we wouldn't have been deported if therehad been. ha ha oops - not his line of thinking.. eek1 oh well, i made him turn upside down a little bit - i realized he'd been trying to pin a type of reverse discrimination on us... hmmm... he aksed if i'd be interested in writing an opinion piece (as i suspected he would), and i said that yes, i'd been thinking of doing that. but i said i thought he might want to do both - including a news story, since so many other papers had covered it (hint hint -- you missed it....). some reporter is supposed to call me back. i'm taking off from my lab until at least friday to catch up on all of these things and try to regain my orientation to permanent re-immersion in my research black hole. so, check the troy paper tomorrow, and i'll try to let you all know when to watch for anything else - maybe sunday is what he meant, he didn't say. mwishka |
