Asalaamu Alaikum ;-) Mission #1 was pretty tough and The Secretary thought there were good attempts all round. Since it was the first mission I'm going to be a bit lenient on evaluation. The following have been enrolled into the Impossible Missions Force for this week: A Stranger Aabidah ascetic Asim AyeshaZ eleanor Faiz flyboy_nz Insanna Jannah Julie Kathy MF Muneerah134 mwishka nouha nur-ul-aain princess Road2Jannah sadiqah44 sofia Soulman suha The purely discretionary Agent of the Week Tag goes to Agent Soulman. Barely a week gone and he's already throwing missiles ;)
Asalaamu alaikum My story is from about 2 weeks ago, am I disqualified then? :P I was chatting to a patient of mine from the scottish council. She said her job was to make sure that illigitimate children whose parents split up, get paid their schooling and pocket money. She can access government records and look up these runaway dads no matter where they were. She said she felt her job was disliked by the public and that she was unpopular with so many people because her dept had the power to fine or even prosecute. I said that I thought that she had the best job out of all of us, she asked why. I said because she was protecting the rights of these vulnerable children whom nobody else would protect. The I launched my missile... I told her that her job originated in sharia - the holy law of Islam, which established the first comprehensive system for protection of orphans rights in society. She looked stunned, so I took her blood pressure - which suggested she was quite at peace with what I said - and let her go. I made a du'a for her and got back to work. One never knows. Wasalaam S. Asalaamu Alaikum ;-) At the end of Mission #2, things are starting to settle down. The following is the current state of play: 2 Successful Missions A Stranger Aabidah AyeshaZ Jannah Kathy Muneerah134 mwishka nur-ul-aain sofia 1 Successful Mission ascetic Asim eleanor Faiz flyboy_nz Insanna Julie MF nouha princess Road2Jannah sadiqah44 Soulman suha Agent of the Week goes to A Stranger for the following:
Every Monday - Friday, I have to teach about 8 kids the recitation of the Qur'an and Islamic studies. I once gave the kids a piece of advice - always say "Bismillah..." before doing *anything*..."bismillahi Rahmaan ar-Raheem" means "In the name of Allah, most Gracious, most Merciful". When you say "Bismillah..", you're saying that you're doing this for the sake of Allah..you're doing whatever you're doing for Allah and Allah only (SubHana Wa Ta`ala). Once you get used to saying this all the time, you won't do anything that will displease Allah (SubHana Wa Ta`ala). Ya see, no one would say "bismillah.." before stealing because they know that what they're about to do is wrong..so they can't steal in the name of Allah. In short, I gave lil kids some advice about doing everything in the name of Allah and remembering Him - it will help you to stay away from sins.
|

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-) After Week 4 the standings look like this: 4 Successful Missions mwishka sofia 3 Successful Missions A Stranger Aabidah AyeshaZ Kathy 2 Successful Missions an Asim Jannah Julie Muneerah134 nur-ul-aain truthfinder 1 Successful Mission ascetic bhaloo eleanor Faiz flyboy_nz Insanna Ms Bey MF nouha princess Road2Jannah sabri sadiqah44 sakeenz Soulman suha wardah Agent of the Week goes to Sr Kathy for this:
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful. Surah 93.... This surah is so deep and has described and affected me in many different times of my life. Some examples: By the Glorious Morning Light, Anyone who has stayed up after Fajr making dikr understands what "glorious" describes. And by the Night when it is still,- This reminds me of quiet times sitting on the waters edge...contemplating... Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased. I remember when I was first reading this I was thinking about giving up my Christian god and religion.... and I was so scared of "the lightening bolt", I did not want to displease Allah SubHana Wa Ta`ala and was wondering if what I was doing - looking into Islam... was wrong. And verily the Hereafter will be better for thee than the present. Al humdullillah, what a mercy to be able to reflect on that when everyone and thing is turning against you And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased. And at every different time in my life, it was something better than I had even dare ask for- and then the promise of paradise... Did He not find thee an orphan and give thee shelter (and care)? Many times in my life I was "orphaned"...and Allah SubHana Wa Ta`ala took care of me...how could I possibly deny His favours? And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance. Masha Allah....and at times I felt I had wandered too far...but He SubHana Wa Ta`ala was always there... And He found thee in need, and made thee independent. Ya Allah, a woman divorced is so alone and scared...but He SubHana Wa Ta`ala made me independent which gave me the strength to be able to leave.... Therefore, treat not the orphan with harshness, This line was like a slap in the face. In other words...I am not the only one out their alone....and what a mercy to the children of the world. Nor repulse the petitioner (unheard); Another slap... how many times I did not have time or money for another ... Allah SubHana Wa Ta`ala had time for little old me.... who was I not to take time and listen to others.... But the bounty of the Lord - rehearse and proclaim! "Which of the favors of the Lord do you deny..."
|

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-) Latest scores are: 5 Successful Missions sofia 4 Successful Missions A Stranger Aabidah AyeshaZ Kathy 3 Successful Missions Jannah Muneerah134 truthfinder 2 Successful Missions an Asim eleanor Julie nur-ul-aain truthfinder wardah 1 Successful Mission ascetic Barr bhaloo Faiz flyboy_nz hijabi4L Insanna MF Ms Bey nouha princess Road2Jannah sabri sadiqah44 sakeenz se7en Soulman suha At last we have a solitary leader in Sr sofia ;-) As the Brits would say though, there is always two halves in a game and as we reconvene after our Summer break, I wonder how the lay off has affected our contestants. ;-) Agent of the Week is shared this week amongst the following: Part A - Aabidah A. If you could step into a time machine and go back and relive any day in your life [24 hours], which day would it be and why? (Would you relive the day in the same way or would you change it in some way?) I would like to go back to the day of the retreat when me and a friend were sitting by the shore on the rocks. It was almost sunset and the sun was reflecting so beautifully on the waves, SubhanAllah. I was sitting on the rocks and the reflection of the sun's rays made a path on the water. The path extended all the way to my feet and was so clear and wide. The path was so clear and straight, that it reminded me of Sirat al mustaqiym, the straight path to Allahu SubhanaHu Wata'ala. The feeling that filled my heart during those moments I will cherish forever and InshaAllah will be able to live them again Part B - Barr B. If you could meet any one living person in the world today, who would it be and why? If you could meet any person on the board who would it be and why? There are so many whom I would wanna meet. Yesterday, I missed my Malaysian sisters (whom I met while in UK) terribly, when I saw their photos at a website... they organised a picnic... I was close to tears. I missed my Brit sisters terribly too. So, I would want to meet them in person. However, there's another great lady whom I would wanna meet... and that is Zainab Al-Ghazali. She is my role model, and someone whom I look up too.. the sacrifices that she made, the time and energy that she has spent in the path of da'wah and jihad. I admire her strength and patience. And I would want to learn this spirit and vigour that she has, to remain steadfast on this path. (Though I do hope she can speak English ) A peek on what she is like...this is the promise that she asked of her husband... ...Let trust, be full between us. A full trust between a man and a woman, a woman, who at the age of 18, gave her whole life to Allah and da'wah. In the event of any clash between the marriage contract's interest and da'wah, our marriage will end, but da'wah would always remain rooted in me... I know that it is your right to command me and that it is my duty to obey you, but God in our souls is greater than our souls, and His da'wah is dearer to us than ourselves... "The Return of the Pharoah" Zainab Al Ghazali Part C - hijabi4L . If you could say anything to anyone, without any consequences, what would you say and to whom? -- ie you enter a second timeline [parallel universe] then you ask that person ....... and return back to your own timeline without the person knowing any better. ~~~Actually I know this is pretty lame, but I would like to go to my sister and tell her how much I love her, no matter what we say to each other and how much we argue, I love her to death and I really don’t tell her enough, probably because I don’t like to come off as a softy…hehe |

Can anyone stop her from claiming her exclusive jannah.org T shirt? ;-) Contrary to recent Madina News Headlines, Br Abu Khaled and myself *have* been seen on the board at the same time!! ;-) Questions for Week 8's mission came from Br Abu Khaled's original questionnaire. Agent of the Week goes to Sr Maliha for the following answers:
25. To me, Islam is _____
Surrender, struggle, life.
26. Name something in someone else that really inspired you, and how.
Our Predecessors...Their struggles, their selflessness, their renunciation of this world, so wholly for the sake of Allah only...It strengthens me, and drives me to want to do more for the deen. I pray Allah will bestow on us the Imaan to rise up to our true destinies.
27. If you had to pinpoint a single thing, what was it that made you make the change to want to practice Islam (of course, ultimately it was by the Guidance of Allah (SubHana Wa Ta`ala ))?
I had reached a point of no return. i lost a lot of what I thought i loved, including almost losing me mind:( But Alhamdullillah... I am grateful for all that happened, since it was the beginning of me journey *conscientiously* toward Allah.
28. One story in the press concerning the affairs of my Ummah that tore me apart was
___ I remember when we first heard they bombed Afghanistan (after 9/11). We were at the Islamic center, right after sunday school, preparing to go to a community barbeque...when we heard..my heart just fell to the ground... i headed straight home in tears. Although it wasn't unexpected, or surprising, but it really affected me deeply...and knowing just how much they had already been through and how much more suffering they would be exposed to...broke my heart.
29. If only Muslims would _____!
Practise their deen!
30. I could quite easily cry when I think about _____
When I think about the state of our ummah. When I think about how far we have digressed, how much confusion and humiliation we are facing, and how minute we have become despite our large numbers, and how we can't seem to agree and unite...and how much suffering we are facing...I pray Allah rises us back to our heights and guides us back as a whole to the straight path, where the drum beats of Jihad will be clear again and the sun will shine with the glory of Islam over the darkness of this dunya.
31. I wish I spent less time ____
Scattering my energies around.
32. I wish I spent more time ____
Focusing. Cant' quite explain this...just that it seems i am running around and days are passing so fast and I just wish i was more *insert right word here*
33. One issue that I really don’t think I quite understand (at all, properly, or fully) yet is ____
Arabic *sigh* i wish i could speak fluently:(
34. I’d like to seek more knowledge about ____
Memorization of the Quran, Tajweed, Fiqh and Arabic:) Okay, just more knowledge about the deen :P
35. The area of Sacred Knowledge that I’m most passionate about.
Tasawwuf, although i am still learning about it.
36. I used to think Islam was ____ but then I came to realize it is ____
i used to think Islam was mere rituals but then I came to realize it is a lifestyle with a deep dimension of spirituality in all that we do.
37. I think Muslims who portray Islam as if it is _____ do a disservice to the Deen.
Muslims who portray Islam as if it is Nonexistent in their lives, do a disservice to the deen.
38. I dislike it when I read/hear the words of Muslims that reflect _____
Ignorance or proper articulation of our state/needs/ etc.
39. Something that seems obvious to me that I have noticed seems less obvious to others
The gradual changing face of Islam....A lot of Muslims from different cultures are coming into Islam, while "born" Muslims are straying further away from the deen. |

His lifestyle has caused me and my household great discomfort, but mashaAllah, I thought, I can maybe make amends for my dissapproving looks, and barely mumbled greetings. I thought about this hadith: (008.076.482 - To make the Heart Tender (Ar-Riqaq) - ) Narrated Abu Huraira Allah's Apostle [saw] said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet, and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not hurt (or insult) his neighbor; and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, should entertain his guest generously." Sooooo, I had a box of canned goods and such from my sister's group's latest community food distribution. I also had some chicken stew which wasn't too bad, if I say so myself. I knocked on the door and told him I had something for him. He was gracious, and I was gracious, and alhamdullilah, we met over the front porch and talked for a few minutes.

Assalamo elikuim I have shared food many times with my neighbour before she moved to another state( I hope not because of my cooking :) ) Last Tuesday when i went to drop my younger son to his KG class one of the student great grandmother whom I have talked to many times (whenever we are waitnig for kids to come out ) told me that it was her 79 birthday. I made some halwa(sooji=cream of wheat) and decorated it with almonds and raisins and took it for her(since it was the only thing i could have made at that time ). Surah 9, verse 13 Al-Tawbah - Repentance Will you not fight a folk who broke their solemn pledges, and purposed to drive out the Messenger and did attack you first? What! Fear you them? Â Now Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are believers. oooh this is difficult... I can link it firstly by saying that those who broke the treaty were not of "the straight path" and had indeed been "led astray". But I prefer to link it by saying "Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds, The Beneficient, the Merciful. Owner of the Day of Judgement. You alone do we worship; You alone we ask for help" The last line of 9:13 tells us we should fear none but Allah. Indeed in Surah-al-Fatihah we are told that Allah is Lord of the worlds, Master of the Day of Judgement. Those whom we fear in this world were also created by Allah and will in turn be judged by him. Those whom we fear are nothing compared to the mighty Allah. And the last section "if you are believers" is the ultimate link! The Surah-al-Fatihah is the creed of belief for the Muslim. It contains our whole relationship with Allah within its lines. And "if we are believers" then Surah-al-Fatihah should be engraved in our hearts. W'Allahu Ahlam
|
