sis mehak,

i have some suggestions.... :)

based on the ideas you yourself had, for an "informative" speech, here are some possibilities i came up with that seem pretty well-suited to the time limit you have for your talk:

1. a history of al-aqsa
2. a histroy of the alhambra
3. question #4 from WWTBAM
4. question #10 from same

of course, when i saw that you said it was a technical communications class, i would have suggested more, um, technical topics had i not seen the ones you were already considering.  no science topics for you??  hee heee ;)

[slm],
For the "large" no of ppl who seemed interested, thank u for ur help sisters!!! :-) I did my speech on Pakistan(religion and other controversial topics were not allowed as it was just an informative speech). I didnt have enough time to research on a topic I didnt know abt.Well, I was extremely nervous and top that, I wore a very bright colored shalwar qameez and I was kinda shy to stand infront of the whole class but everyone enjoyed it, or so they said. THere were a lot of questions and the critiques I got later were all good and said that it made them see Pakistan from a different perspective and understand it more as opposed to the image presented by the media. Especially the girls loved my outfit. So, it was really fun. I though I would share with u guys. :)

sis mehak,

that's really great!  no matter how nervous you were, you helped people by what you did.  every thing we can do to open people's minds is of a greater benefit than we know at just that moment.  you were probably talking to people from whom there will be future muslims, maybe even based on simple things they learned from you - even their enjoyment of your garments will have a positive effect! and possibly among them will be people who could pass tiny changes in attitude through the generations and end up with pakistani daughters- or sons-in-law!  you just never know what your efforts will yield in some future.

congratulations for making it through your fear and shyness to give your speech!

Sounds like you did a great job!!!.. You wore shalwar kameez, sweet.. I think now a days they have so many misconceptions about pak and india , afghanistan and other muslim countries.  InshaAllah many of them will look at Muslim countries from a  different perspective.
 [] on me today  :) :)
