| Salaam Below is a petition I have drafted so far i have roughly 200 signatures of people here Albany NY. Once enough signatures are collected inshaAllah we will send the petition to our represenative Mr michael McNulty in order to infulence him to support justice in the middle east. People can copy and paste the peition into word (or other progarm) print it and gather signature in their communtiy and then send it off to their represenatives shukran Here is the Petition: Petition to End Injustice in Palestine Dear (congressperon's name here): Israel deserves to exist in peace and the Palestinian people deserve their own country. The Palestinian Authority and the Arab nations have recognized the right of Israel to exist. But Israel has not pledged to withdraw completely from the West Bank and Gaza to allow the formation of a Palestinian state on those lands. International law forbids Israel from keeping land that it seized during the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, including the West Bank and Gaza. The United States has thrown its weight behind Israel in the Middle East conflict, rather than adopting a just approach. Israel is the largest recipient of United States foreign aid, including more than two billion dollars a year in military aid. Israel, with the fourth largest military in the world, can protect itself against military conquest. Israel could trade land for peace by agreeing to withdraw completely from the West Bank and Gaza and recognizing a Palestinian state on those lands. Therefore, I urge you to: 1) To support the creation of a Palestinian state under UN guidelines 194, 242, and 338 2) Apply strong pressure on Israel to cease its occupation of Palestine. 3) Stop sending aid to Israel unless Israel withdraws completely from the West Bank and Gaza. 4) Offer substantial aid to assist economic development for Palestine upon the creation of a Palestinian state. 5) Support sending international monitors or peacekeepers to the region. 6) Israel must allow for the right of return of Palestinian refugees. 7) Israel must pull out its settlements from the West Bank and Gaza. | In the illustrious history of the Muslim Ummah it has been faced with many problems. But it has never been unable to solve them – until now. Today, in addition to other problems, it is characterized with a sheer inability to comprehensively resolve difficult issues. Numerous dilemmas have presented themselves and the most we can do is respond with knee-jerk reactions and inconclusive answers. A current case in point is the boycott of US and Israeli goods that is taking place in the Middle East in response to the massacres of Muslims in Palestine. The outpouring of support is a good indication of an improvement in our view towards our Islamic obligations and interests but it must be understood that the situation requires a more calculated and far-reaching response. Too often we search for answers that will alleviate the matter but don’t eradicate it. One of the reasons for this shortcoming is the failure to appreciate the nature of the problem. The nature of the Ummah’s problem is political. Therefore, it requires a political solution, not an economic one. Islam has a political dimension. It is reflected by the Ahkaam Shari’ah (legal code) that deals with life’s problems and is embodied in the Islamic State. Ever since this distinguished Ummah lost the understanding of this significant aspect of the aqeedah in her life she has been exposed to the schemes of her enemies and adversely influenced by their political actions. Her affairs have become like clay in the hands of the potter, to be shaped by the kuffaar as they wish. ONLY KHILAFAH IS THE SOLUTION TO ALL OUR PROBLEMS. |

| I do not think that a Khilafah will solve our Ummas problems. Before we have an Islamic state that follows shariah we need to first have an Islamic State of Mind. So many people do not under stand this deen at a deep and profound level (myself included) what is the point of having a state with filled with people who follow shariah and have no understanding of Islam. Thats like a state of Robots. Also I doubt the feasablity of creating an Islamic state in the present political climate. There are also numerous problems with this where would the state be? Who would be the Khilafah? I am not saying that following shariah is not important the messenger (pbuh) said that if we follow his Sunnah and the Quran we will never go astray. There are so many muslims out there who do not even follow the "5 pillars" we need to have good muslims before we can have a sustainable and good Islamic state. |
