Need Help?

Dear sweet sisters in Islam

One of my very close friends is Mashallah pregnant (for the first time) this day. I live in Islamabad and she lives in the States.  I really miss her these days and I would like to send her some religious information regarding this specific difficult period. Actually she is a kind of scared.  I have told her to read Holy Quran a lot these days (and stop listening to Music; actually she loves Music)). Especially since now she is in her 6th months so I was telling her this is the time when child develops an ability to hear (Am I right? I have heard it from somewhere???) So it's really good that baby would be listening to the holy words of quran (instead of getting her kid familiar to the rhythms of Music  :)).  So now, she is trying to follow my suggestion of reading Holy Quran in loud voice. I have also heard from experienced ladies that it's good to read Surah--Maryam and  Surah-Waqeya during pregnancy.  But I am not sure.  Any advises/suggestions???

Jazak Allahu Khairun

Dear Sister Asifa,
What about tapes/CDs with qur'anic recitation? My best pal Zarifa listened to Ya Sin and Ar Rahman (with the meaning in English spoken after each verse.) It is the most beautiful, I will have to find out who the reciter is. This was most calming for both of them and still quiets little Sister Sajeedah when she is fussy, alhamdullilah. Babies can hear early on and recognize voices too, so reading aloud is a good idea.

There are some recordings of recitation from the Haram that can bring tears to your eyes (and calm to anyone.)

May Allah bless your friend with ease and bless you for your concern for her.

Jazak Allahu Kahirun sister Muneera for a very nice advise.  Yeah!  Listening to the beautiful Quran recitation would be the best advise for my sweet friend.  I was waiting to get a response about my question since Yesterday and then I thought may be their is no prescribed kind of religious guidance for this specific period.

May Allah (SWT) make things easy for all of us in this world and bless us with Janat-ul-Firdos in the life hereafter.

Your sister in Islam

Dear Asifa [slm]
From about the fifth month on of my pregnancy, I would tape the headphones of a CD-player to my belly at night.  The CDs were of Quran recitation with Urdu translation.  The CD would repeat all night and the next night, I would start the next CD.  I believe my baby heard the entire Holy Quran and translation about three times while in utero, MashaAllah. :)  I am hoping it will help her subconsciously become a HAFIZA :D
