from www.icna.org In the post September 11 scenario, the need for dissemination of correct information about Islam has never been greater. American Muslims have a greater obligation to share their values with the country they have chosen to call home. This year, ICNA's WhyIslam Dawah Project is providing a wonderful opportunity to participate in a major Dawah effort. On the historic occasion of the first ICNA-MAS Joint Convention, 877-Why-Islam will be setting up an open air Dawah booth at the Baltimore Inner Harbor. The chief patron of the 877-Why-Islam Project Sheikh Yusuf Islahi will inaugurate the two day event on Friday, July 5th at 10:00 am. Free Islamic literature will be distributed to thousands of people visiting the Inner Harbor during the Independence Day weekend. Nasheed group "Native Deen" will perform Islamic songs, and free water will be available for all. In the Name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful WhyIslam Dawah Booth at Baltimore Inner Harbor Alham-do-lillah this year we have been granted approval and the permit from the city of Baltimore to setup an outdoor dawah booth at the inner harbor. The booth Inshaallah will be setup at McKeldin Square (in front of the fountain wall at Pratt Street, between north and southbound lanes of Light Street) and will be active on July 5th and 6th. Timing of the booth will be from 10am to 10pm, each day. The assigned area is very close to the Hyatt Hotel, Light Street Pavilion and Amphitheater. It has a nice setup with fountain, benches and trees and there is plenty of space to set up the tent fkr the booth, a stage and a poster exhibition. We will provide free drinking water, souvenirs and dawah literature to the public. Inshaallah we will also have a multi-media presentation with our latest state-of-the-art sound system. Allah has given us a great Dawah opportunity and we should all try to utilize it to the best of our abilities. I would like to invite you all to volunteer for this booth, and share in the "hasanat". We need the names, phone numbers and email addresses of the brothers and sisters who would like to volunteer and commit for this noble work. Inshaallah each time slot is about three hours in duration and we need three brothers and three sisters for each slot.
