| I'm just wondering why there isn't a fatwa room on this site? I think it would be good if we had the imams of the Captial District come in once in awhile and answer questions, especially for those who want to be anonymous. What do you guys think? |

| [slm] I'm really opposed to having any kind of internet fatwa place. I know it fulfills a great need in our community, but I don't think this is the right media. Too many people cut and paste these fatwas without any kind of understanding making all kinds of things haram or halal. Also when one asks a question on the internet all the facts and background may not be there and this is extremely important for the faqih when making a legal decision. It is unfortunate that there are so many fiqh questions that come in anonymously. I think this shows the desperateness of these people, having a lack of outlets of knowledge in their community, or maybe (to be more cynical) they have gotten some answers, or know what they are but are looking for something else. |
