| [slm] An-Nur will be holding its fundraising dinner on Sunday, July 14 at 5:00pm. They also need volunteers to help with babysitting and to help escorting and directing people during the event. Please pass the word. Jazak Allahkhair, ----------------------------------------------- Annual Fundraising Dinner Featuring Renowned Guest Speaker Imam of Masjid Taqwa in New York and dynamic speaker of Islamic Causes Sunday, July 14th at ICCD Mosque Program will begin at 5:00 p.m. and dinner will be provided. Other presenters include An-Nur students and members of the school administration. Baby-sitting will be available at AN-Nur School for $5.00 per child. Please call the school at 395-9866 to request baby sitting service and for other information. Tickets sold at various masjids during Juma time. | [slm] Alhamdulillah it went well. SubhanAllah Imam Siraj rocked the house, he was so good MashaAllah. I'm not sure how much was raised but a good amount as I remember, Alhamdulillah. It ended early though, by 10 pm most everybody was gone. I remember for the Fundraising Dinner for our new masjid, it started around 8:30 and ended at 2 in the morning, Alhamdulillah. | [slm] They made about 60K which is an improvement on last year but not much of a working budget. They still need to finish portions of the building and it's rather pathetic what salary those teachers make ~8k or something ridiculous. That's below legal poverty levels! If they were public school teachers the starting salary is 40k a year in new york state. I think it's the duty of every working person in the public sector to support these muslim institutions, because the people working there are making such huge sacrifices. It's the least we can do. They also need volunteers to come help out with the kids sometimes (esp male). |
